I finally figured out Beck!

Maybe if we huddled instead of tryin to interpret 4000 hand signals at mach speed those communication issues would be eradicated.
This. Make sure everyone is on the same page before even lining up. If you're not even running hurry-up (which we rarely do), you're taking all the risk of no-huddle, but getting none of the reward.
Exactly. We've slowed the tempo, which I like, but these *communication errors* are growing in both numbers and ridiculousness.
Beck admitted he made the Purdue game plan overly complex. It's all over the paper today. I think that attributed to much of the confusion. we saw. He needs to simply our game plan going forward. Unfortunately he has a hard time doing that as we saw in the Michigan State game.

Which begs the question. Of all of our opponents this year, why did the Purdue game plan need to be complex?

Beck said it was because they had a bye week. He was worried about that. I find that ridiculous. We are the better team and don't need to out scheme them.

Those 2 statements in bold are fireable offenses in my opinion.

Purdue had a bye, and last year they changed up their entire defense for us. Add to that that Purdue has been playing better this year, and it's understandable the OC might get a little carried away with the gameplan. In hindsight, he should have kept it simple.

All that said, we still won by 21 without our best player and in a constant 15-30 mph wind.

Not sure having a qb coach would help tommy play any better he is 50% passer run first qb he just is what he is
as on OC you can call a game and push the % to 65+, or call a game that results in a 50% passer. The way this offense is run, we could take Manziel and turn him into a mid-50's passer. It just is what it is. They take a lot of shots down field, and don't dink-and-dunk much. I don't think that's on Tommy as much as Beck. People say he doesn't get through his progressions - well then you are admitting that deep bomb he's throwing is his first read. Why? Why can't we get into a rhythym with play-action, involve the TE, screen passes to one of the most dangerous back in the nation? Those are your high % plays that would put Tommy well into the 60's. It's not what's being called. Kenny and Westy are deep threats, and that's how we're going to use them I guess.
I would like to see what Tommy's completion percentage is on short passes maybe within 10 yards and deep passes maybe 15-20 yards down field. I don't think there would be a drastic difference every qb is going to have a lower completion percentage going deep but we've all seen tommy miss ameer coming out of the back field by a mile and miss guys around the first down marker. I just don't think tommy us ever going to be a guy that completes around 60% or more of his passes. He is great running the option I would love to see more of that, he should be running it 15+ times per game rather than throwing it 20+ a game

Purdue was Tommy's worst game. It's not really fair to come on here and blast him (not singling you out) after one bad game. In his last two games, he threw for 62% and 64% on 22 and 29 attempts.

The problem isn't Armstrong's native ability. He's capable of being a good passer, but he can't do it on his own and he can't do it if he's not getting the right looks in practice. Somehow, the QB, WRs and O-line need to get on the same page in practice and do a better job of translating it to the game.

Over our last four games, he's completing 52% of his passes with three TDs and five INTs. His completion percentage was better for a couple games but his overall play isn't. It's been a lot of the same things, except with the wrinkle this week of dropping good snaps.

I disagree. His very low completion percentage vs. Purdue was an anomoly that distorts his average over the last four games. Purdue was his worst passing game by far: his 38.1% completion percentage was 8% lower than his next worst game this year (Interesting note that this was also the second worst game of his career. The worst was last year at Purdue, where his completion percentage was 33.3%).

Other than Miami, his games against Rutgers and NW were two of his best (competition notwithstanding).

37% of his passes in the last four games came against Michigan State (43 attempts), so that really skews it as well. I think it's really as simple as two good games, two bad games in the last four. But it's fair to say he's been on and off all year. Disappointing considering this could have been a coming of age campaign, but so far, it's a little short of that.

I think we saw good progress in the weeks leading up to Purdue, but Purdue was a giant step back. It's especially concerning because they're just Purdue, and all of our errors were so self-inflicted.

I consider our defense pretty good, yet better teams are able to create mismatches and space against them. Maybe simplistic thinking, but why doesn't our offense seem to be able to do the same?

For the season he is completing 53% of his passes. In five conference games, he's completing 51.5%. Last year he completed 52 % I'd say 52% over the last four is right on with where he's always been over more than a game or two.

He has as many games under 50% (Illinois, Michigan State and Purdue) as he does over 60% (Miami, Northwestern and Rutgers).

The gameplan against purdue should have been to run. Anyways how about Beck throw in a wrinkle and go under center with a FB to lead block for ameer. Talk about an average of 10 yards per carry with ameers vision and cutback ability. But that's probably too simple. With the offensive talent we have there are plenty of OCs that could come in and average 50 ppg and have most games decided by half. You can't convince me Baylor and Tcu have more offensive playmakers.
