i just dont get it!

I'm not mad, or piling on anyone. But, we self-destruct all the time....I simply don't get it. Where do we go from her. I love my huskers and I will defend to the end, but why do we do this all the time. I thought we would have figured it out by now. I'm not calling anyone out. I'm just confused.

Man this hurts!
You have totally summed up my thoughts of the last 36 hours.

I'm watching 'Open Range' and just watched the sceen where Costner kills the gunslinger with a quick shot between the eyes with no warning. Watched it about 15 times. Starting to feel better.

No, we self destruct on the road. For some reason when we are away we can't seem to do ANYTHING right, I mean seriously 2 dropped punts in a row from 2 different players? Do you know how sad it is to hear the TV commentators talk about how the Husker fans are CHEERING the fact someone actually caught a punt? Seriously catching a punt is making the crowd cheer? This is where it has dropped down to? Maybe its the Huskers that need a damn nap cause we sure look to be half assing it today!

52-17 loss at home to Missouri in 2008

31-10 loss at home to Texas Tech in 2009

9-7 loss at home to Iowa State in 2009

20-13 loss at home to Texas in 2010

28-25 loss at home to Northwestern in 2011

Bo has had really ugly losses every year at home, so I don't quite agree with you that we implode only on the road.

Exactly. Does anyone remember this exact weekend impending 2 years ago with a top 10 Missouri coming to town who just beat a No. 1 Oklahoma, everyone wishing the game was on the road because we were playing obviously better on the road than at home. Yeah.

Well, Husker fans sat and complained that we played better on the road than at home. That problem is fixed.

I must be a really odd Husker fan. I'm actually happy we won. I thought it was a great come back and it showed that this team has guts and doesn't quit.

I couldn't really find another thread to post this in, and didn't want to start a new one.

If ever there was a week for us all to just stfu and wait until about 11:00 PM Saturday night, this is it.

We're currently favored. The game's at home, at night. We're coming off a win. Taylor had a great game. Our entire offense had a great second half. Bo made some changes that helped us stuff Colter.

Whether your glass is half full or half empty, it doesn't matter this week. Anything can happen. Let's wait and see what goes down.

What I don't get is that we just won a game that basically half of everyone that gave a crap was saying we were going to lose, but now everyone is mad because they didn't win it with enough style. A win is a win. Take it and move on.

Sure there is a lot of things to work on, but the game is over and they won. Let it go.

They may win 5 move ugly games like this. You got to give NW some credit. They were 6-1 going into the game. They should win a couple more games. They are a decent team.
Those are the same people predicting 45-17, 56-28, 48-24 losses against Michigan, and if we win by a dozen or more, they will be complaining about something in that case too. I'm getting better at ignoring that crowd.
Your involvement in this thread says otherwise....

What still puzzles me is how we actually won this game. The special teams play for the most part was absolutely horrendous. Between the two muffed punts and Maher's lovely 16 yard punt, we looked like a junior high team running special teams. Then, we look at an offense that converted what one or two third downs the entire game? The defense other than that long run looked pretty darn good. I'm even giving Baptise a pass on the TD pass as he was there and his head was back looking for the ball. Northwestern had been picking on him the entire game, and he shut his guy down every time with the exception of one. This guy is going to be an absolute stud.

I'm happy for the win, and we did some very good things. However, our consistency is downright terrible. I used to ref. a lot of junior high football games, and this was all I could think about while watching the game. I mean a tackle that can't even figure out whether he's on the line of scrimmage or not is a junior high mistake.

You are allowed to kilter off the scrimmage line a little bit, and it depends on the refs on how much they allow. After watching that game, they were definitely sticklers on staying strict on it, because you really never see it called in other games. We consistently do this in every game. Like I said, depends on the refs. Some allow it more than others, and simply put, these guys didn't allow it at all.

On the second call, Reed is lined up way ahead of Sirles. The ref had to throw the flag.

A win is a win I suppose. But this team continues to play uninspired, mistake prone, listless football for quarters at a time. If they do that against Michigan for any amount of time the result will NOT be in NU's favor.

One more thing and on to Michigan.....watching Kyler Reed block the wrong way on that 4 and 3, sent me in a tailspin. Little things.....the little things. Catching punts, right blocks, holding onto the ball. These are fundamentals. Arghhh! We CAN NOT do this against Michigan. We will get blown OUT!

Getting better does not translate to perfect. Ha.

That Junior High coaches are capable of fixing... but, seemingly the NU coaches are not.
