Important Transfer Headed Our Way

Everybody makes mistakes, but this is an egregious one that shows a serious lack of judgment. The obviously startling portion of the story is the violence committed against Bussey. Football players (especially those at division one programs) are held to high standards on and off the field. While I don't believe college athletes should be forbidden by coaches from going to the bars and drinking, athletes have to show far better judgment than this.

That much alcohol, regardless of your size, is too much. Lewis is also a big football player, and I've seen situations like this with my own eyes. I'll be bar hopping on a weekend night, Husker players will be walking around and there will be idiots trying to instigate arguments with them, challenging them to altercations. It's inept, but it happens. How are we supposed to trust him to keep his nose clean at Nebraska when he can't even stay out of trouble at a school where his name and position is much less important? He's about to jump from Boulder, Co., to one of the most scrutinized fish bowl universities in all of college sports. It appears he's not ready for a place like this.

All that said, the report is a little baffling. Witnesses speak of the altercation occurring in an alley, the two "bumping" into each other and the fight continuing from there. Who "bumps" into someone in an alley and starts a fight? It seems far more likely a disagreement was taken to the alley, or one of the two parties followed the other into the alley. The circumstances are a little fishy, and I'm sure both sides will spin a tale of innocence. Lewis' testimony will be questionable because of the consumed alcohol, while Bussey's will be questioned because he can't remember a damn thing.

will this kid play a down for UNL? If the report is true I dont see how
if the latest report is true i would say no way. but the reports have been changing everyday so who knows how it will play out.
Again. It is conveniently coincidental that this happens a day after announcing he is transferring to none other than Nebraska. Dont put it by anything Colorado to try to set up some bullsh#t. No one will ever convince me otherwise.

That's some serious paranoia there. If this report is 1/2 true, no way he plays for Nebraska.

In an unrelated, but at the same time, related note - I've heard from a couple of people he may have been wearing a Nebraska shirt at the time of the incident. No confirmation on this, so take it for what it's worth.

I wonder how this will play out ....... clearly Lewis was a fool and has himself in some hot water. What I figure will impact the story is that the other fellow was a Drunk Student from the Air Force Academy (unlikely a passive personality) out at 3am, so I feel like we will learn more than what the kids Girl Friend told the police. The story mentions that the kid was unconscious however it also mentions the police arriving very quickly (before the SUV could pick them up) and the police were able to interview the victim although he had no memory of the event, I guess it is not clear to me that the kid was unconscious.

Either way we shall see what happens and I have a hard time feeling sorry for any of them. When folks put themselves in high risk situations than they need to live with the consequences and wandering around drunk at 3AM counts as high risk to me.

Not-so-important transfer not heading our way.
