Iowa Rivalry

I really like the Idea....but not sure about Iowa. I would like to think that Nebraska had it with Oklahoma but that's lost. I don't think that there is any team that has the value to compete with Nebraska ever year......Unless Miami wants to come to Lincoln...LOL.

You could play NU-Iowa in Kansas City's Arrowhead stadium every 2nd Saturday in September. Each teams school gets half the seats, approximately 39,000 each. Certain sellout. Instant TV. Would be a showcase for some of Missouri's top talent. Would be a huge boom for Kansas City, would be a great/short trip for both teams fans, nuetral atmosphere, similar to Georgia-Florida or OU-Tex. To me, it would be a win win for both schools. You could probably even get a sponsor just for this game, so the revenue that COULD be generated would be greater than any road type game.

sounds good to me.

Have to agree with Pig, I do not want to be giving Missouri money. We need home games and I would much rather see the top teams coming into Memorial stadium every year than Iowa. I think we are giving them way too much credit. Their NC count is what?

Give me Tenn, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, LSU, USC or any other real player over a wanna bee. And make tons of money doing it.

Well the point of the thread was to get a non-conf permanent rival. We could still rotate in another big team each year.

Michigan, ND, and all the Florida Teams already have plenty of rivals so those arent even options. Someone in the region is more likely. That is why I suggested the most consistent program in our local vicinity.

Other options might be CSU but they have CU as a non-conf.

I love the KC idea but I understand the concerns about money loss to Memorial but we are only going to have 7 home games max. I believe that is right and if that is indeed the case we could fill the rest of the non-conf schedule with the usual cupcakes and still reach our maximum allowed home games per year losing nothing.

Iowa is not some chump team btw no they dont have NCs but neither does ISU but they still remain in the Big 12. I would rather have Iowa but thats another topic for another day.

Things have really went down if we consider Iowa comparable to Nebraska. Michigan, Ohio State, even Penn State. Not Iowa. A border war really means squat if it is not a great team. Texas and Arkansas are border war state. Don't hear much about it except on game day. Texas and Oklahoma, now that is a different situation. Iowa really has not been much since Hayden and then only on occasion.

There is talent in every single state out there no question. The problem with playing the Big Boys in the Big eleven is that most of the potential recruits stay home. Do not even consider leaving the Michigan/Ohios State area. I would like to see us get some of those kids in the future. I personally would like to see Nebraska join the Big Eleven and tell Texas it can have this conference. But it would get a lot tougher for us in the long run I think. I want to see Nebraska play the tough teams on a regular basis. If Iowa was a regular, I doubt we would see the major out of conference games too often. I like the Va Tech, Tenn, USC games. More of them the better as long as it is home and home.

If we were in the Big Eleven, then Iowa being a border war would merit attention in my mind. Now it just would not mean much to anyone but Iowa and Nebraskans.

Joining the conference would set up great games like Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Wisconsin, plus the border war with Iowa. That would be really interesting, and could leave the option for maybe facing OU again every year as a rivalry game.

Now your thinking Kid. That would make a killer schedule to say the least. You get thrrough that every year unscathed you would be doing something. I would much rather go to see a close loss to Ohio State than a pasting of Nichols state. I know we need the cash cows. But there is nothing like watching a great game that means something.

Yeah, in the Big XII you get the occasional good team, but in the Big "11" you're guarnteed a GREAT team every season. It would definately be a more exciting season to say the least.

Yeah, they would have to like us a little bit, since they have rights to Big 10 games. But I think anything would be better than FSN. They don't have HD, and I can't stand their announcers.
