Iowa - What Did We Learn?

Why? Every time HH came on the field it completely stalled the momentum we had.  It’s a dumb gimmick that’s been snuffed out and outside of the run against Wisconsin it’s netted us next to nothing
HH hit him in the chest, he should have caught the ball.  We had so many open guys that were missed and balls dropped.

Dana Holgorsen still has bad play calling. Two running plays up the middle with 40 seconds left. After the second one a quick snap that led to the strip sack by Iowa. There is a reason WVU didn’t want to keep him and Houston fired him.

I like Chadwell too but the AD will claim major progress with Nebraska making a bowl game.  If that is the case, I want Husker media to press Dannen on what Rhule needs to do in year 3 to retain his job.
There's zero chance Rhule gets fired after 3 years, barring going 0-12. The buyout is too large. Here is what we'd owe, if he's fired after these years, in millions:

25 - 49.05
26 - 41.4
27 - 32.4

OK, as fans we need to accept that Ruhle will be here for the foreseeable future.  The days of buy out are ending with the emphasis on NIL.  The bed has been made no matter the success rate he has had in the past.  It comes down to him practicing what he preaches of accountability.  He assembled the turd coaches he surrounded himself with because of "comfortness" of coaching with them prior.  He took a big step in getting Dana, now will he continue that.  That is the supposed 9 million dollar assistant coaches salary pool question???

Special teams need attention, the supposed DC situation, Barthol,  Doogie Howser and to some extent Uncle Don are all postions that need serious soul searching about.

Can we please stop saying this.  Iowa did not break that swing pass because it was their ‘identity’. It was essentially broken play. It sucked and it’s the defenses fault, but it was flukey when three of our guys tackled each other. You think Iowa fans were just smiling smugly as they were getting smashed for 98% of the game…saying ‘yup, this is the way. This is our identity’.?

We had it. We lost it. Almost a statistical anomaly given the numbers.
And that is our identity.  It permeates the DNA of this place.  We as fans see it, feel it and know it.  Same with the players.  As soon as ICG muffed that punt, there it was.  Game over.  The one score losses, losing to a team tonite with their offensive production are all basically statistically impossible to do, yet here we are...

Iowa just plays hard nose mistake free football and make you blink. NU blinked.  We always do.  That's who we are.

My point about the swing pass, why use those? how many did we run against Wisky?  Why use Carter Nelson?  Why go away from the run game.....Too cute of play calling just go with what was working....But DANA went away from it.  Iowa didn't stop it.  We did.  And DR back to "waiting for what he wanted, instead of taking what was there"....

I believe Nebraska would have won tonight if HH was the starter. The passing game was weak sauce, running the ball was moving the chains. I say run the ball more.

You know who is not a .500 coach....Jamey Chadwell...
Bingo!  I figured one of us would bring him up.

A one win gain this year isn’t good enough with our schedule. Too many games we never should have lost. The losing culture has not changed. While the D played well we could not close it out. Primary fault on the O. Choke

I learned that the wrong QB redshirted this year. I’m disappointed that we didn’t see any of DK in any games. DR had a few good quarters but not a full game except the practice games.
