I'm not happy with the UCLA game same as all Husker fans. And not happy with, same as all Husker fans, the results of many of NU's recent games (and recent is a huge stretch cuz I mean 15 years more or less since Dr. Tom left).
But I just want to say clearly that it appears WAY too common for posters or commentators, thinkers, to conclude on "THE THING' or "THE POINT" to all things good or bad and I must say that usually, often, most often, there is not any ONE POINT ONE ANSWER.
So....about Bo and NU. All the positives that make sense are true. And also all the negatives that make sense are true.
NU has it's positives. As a high paying job and as a place to succeed and be very happy as a coach. And, it has some negatives most prominently that NU has few home grown superstar players. And we're not in the SEC-cheat so recruiting is a bit harder and ESPiN is not monetarily in NU's camp.
More considerations....
Bo is a first time HC and IMO has proven to not be very good at it...and not proven winners usually don't succeed
It is true that NU often fails in execution just watch the UCLA highlights you will see a dozen head-scratching executions by NU that helped to execute NU. Angles, position, gaps, tackles...wow...really bad. And TM was Mr. Overthrow and no run this game. Dang. And the worst of all IMO was the UTerus game in 2010 when we dropped like 5 TD passes and even Rex did one (and the refs hosed us like always back then).
NU's defense is getting smashed often and Bo came here mostly as a defensive guru. It is year 6 he owns this 100 percent. He is failing.
UCLA and Wisky are pretty solid teams with players so if you don't bring your A game you are probably going to lose. NU did.
NU strength and conditioning used to be a huge advantage for NU but for a long time that has not been apparent (and maybe no longer possible)
Reffing has often been unscrupulously against NU (most non-conference crews and the Texass league BIG refs have been balanced)
So there is myriad factors. NU is about 50 50 on the factors and that is not good enough to dominate. Money is available, facilities are great, tradition is great, academics are great, fans are great. Maybe brotherhood (not sure) is great on Bo's team. We have a ton of positives. But we have negatives and we have more than one. So to contemplate success and failure and strategies I know it is paramount that NU leadership must understand all of them well and act accordingly.
And OK the punch line that I would be asked in one second so I'll give it now....I'd lose Bo. He doesn't have it. He is close, IMO, but not quite close enough. And I'd be patient this year he is close and making changes, unless u r USC or Florida, is risky. I think he'll fail but as a diehard NU fan I hope he doesn't, and quickly. GBR.
Edit: duh ok if it is true that Bo said FU to Husker fans a few years ago I've moved fully to fire him wow. He (any smart coach) should know that NU fans are a huge advantage not a negative.
