I honestly believe that JD Spielman is a true talent and he will be upgraded to a starter sometime this season. I was really sad to see him leave. There were instances last year where he was the only one playing lights out. Let us not forget all the good things he did at Nebraska.

I think it's just takes time to integrate smoothly and understand all facets of the offense.  IMO Gary Patterson is one of the best head coaches in all of college football.  I'd say we will be proud and happy he was able to contribute quite a bit as Horned Frog and enjoy his new journey.

Odd choice then going to TCU under Gary Patterson who seems like a pretty big hard a$$.

i think the kid was fragile and lacked the toughness Frost was looking for. 

JD took a lot of hard shots for us and stayed on the field, making plays. His toughness is the last thing anyone should question.

Remember Ozigbo was third on the depth chart and see what he did later on in the season.

I wouldn't be too worried about anything because it takes time to adapt. New offense and not a lot of practice time will affect that.

Doesn't look much different than our number 2's the past few years......Be easier to see where he is truly at in a few weeks....And about the same production as starters not named JD or Wan'Dale last year.......

He was a very good football player for us.  He thrived when we had a healthy Martinez (not sure what he was last year), Stanley Morgan and Ozigbo.  Even last year he made many great plays, and got destroyed on some of them.  It is confusing why he left last the team and joined TCU, but to say he wasn't/isn't that good is just crazy.

JD is good, not great. He had a place as a #2 receiving option in a college offense that contained and NFL #1 receiver, an NFL RB, and a dual threat QB. He struggled mightily when asked to rise into anything more. I won't buy that he was weak or didn't try, I absolutely think he gave his all while on the field. In the end he is a 5'9 receiver that lacks elite speed and will always be somewhat limited because of that. I think he felt he could be more than that and is seeking a chance to show it. I think he will find that he's a good role type player and hope he truly enjoys his senior year of football as it will likely be his last.
