He keeps insulting other posters intelligence to "prove" his point. He's done it a few times in the "Riley Shelf Life" thread. Thoughts?

You weren't trying to sell Anderson, yet you preached his big season from utah state and decent run at Wiscy. Okay......

I don't think it's a reading comprehension problem from me. I think it's an overly inflated ego problem from you.
Really need to finish that GED- this is exactly what I said:

As to how hard it is to win in Corvallis. Interesting that a guy like Gary Anderson who turned Utah State around from nothing to an 11 win team only 6 points away from being 13-0 and a nice run at Wisconsin would bother going there if it was so bad/impossible to win there. Will be interesting if he can replicate the big success Dennis Erickson had after Riley left the first time.

Not sure how you got this out of me saying it will be "interesting": So you are saying that Anderson is going to be great at OSU without him even coaching a game. But Riley has yet to make his debut and he is already a bad choice because he was ranked 41 on a meaningless poll?

It might be interesting to see which has the bigger uptick in year one

I dont know a lot about Anderson- but the last guy who took over OSU for RIley did really well and he was no HOF coach Dennis E

Riley greater or less than the 9 wins and +143 point differential from the Pelini team in the Big 10

Or Anderson greater or less than the 5 wins and negative 71 point point differential of Rileys OSU team in the Pac

Would like to see where you would stake your life savings bet on which will do better

Time will tell

Im hopeful Mike Riley does well

We will be in our season tickets seats and cheer him and the kids on, win or lose

If I see good football being played, I will be his biggest fan

Im glad he is a very nice person

But at the end of the day, what matter most is what happens on the field with the team

I dont like seeing inconsistent undisciplined play and coaching and sloppy football- that's just me

Personally I supported Bo to an extent, he didnt grow into the person I hoped he would be

Was glad he moved on

What is off is what the media says NU fans are- unrealistic even outrageous:

Johnny Stanton just needing some "QB whispering" and hes in the mix to start

Imani Cross being a starter or NFL prospect in a pro style offense

NU vying for a final 4 bid- LAST YEAR or even this year

NU beating Ohio State this year or in the very near future

NU automatically being better, getting more wins because the coaching staff has more years of experience. When we take that as a "given" we forget about the games OSU lost to Sac State and Eastern Washington tech.

Then the blatant misrepresentations:

No one can ever win at Oregon State- it's impossible, but Riley did kinda because he's great. Well Dennis Erickson won in the middle of the Riley tenure at a much better rate than Riley did. That is the inconvenient truth.,

Can NU be a 9-10 maybe even 11 win team every once in awhile with this staff? Maybe- he hasnt shown he can do that

Can they consistently win- always beating the teams they should beat, not getting tripped up by the likes of MvNeese State, Sac State or Eastern Washington- I dont know, at age 62 he has yet to win a collegiate conference title

There are some promising signs

Well run camps and practices

Some reasonably good, not great recruiting

Great PR- which was to be expected

The honeymoom period is in full bloom

Reasonable roster management

Yeah, I've been watching him. He's been mixing it up a bit this afternoon. Nothing too out of control. He just doesn't seem to be good at the give-and-take of message board conversation. I think jmfb is for the most part a knowledgeable and good poster. He just gets real bristley if anyone dares to disagree with an opinion. (I cut and pasted his latest post. Nothing bad there, but some of his earlier posts included slights to other posters.)

Given the slights about reading comprehension and such, perhaps a shot over the bow in the form of a friendly PM warning would do the trick. I'd be glad to send it. He might listen, and tone it down a bit.

Yeah if you want to. I already threw out a generic one in the thread. Maybe if it comes from another mod too, it will sink in a bit.

Never hurts to try but I doubt it will help. He's the classic know-it-all. Always has to be right and get in the last word.

He disappeared for awhile and I was kind of sad to see him back. He's not really breaking any rules but can be pretty annoying because he won't let anything go or let anyone else have their opinion without arguing with him.

His opinions are facts to him.

Hi jmfb,

Seems like you're really mixing it up today. Which is fine. This is a message board for discussion and debate. And sometimes even argument. I like what you bring to the board. It's clear that you are knowledgeable about Husker football. I just don't want to see you get baited by these guys into breaking any rules here on HB. So try not to get so worked up when people disagree with you. And please refrain from calling names. That is all.

GBR!

I sent him the PM above. Maybe he'll take a hint. Or maybe not.

He said in some thread that he's a season ticket holder and coach (high school or junior high, I'd guess). He might turn into a decent poster if he calms down a bit.

Good work, NUance.

Wow. I was a day behind in the football forum. Hadn't read all this from today until after I posted that above. Actually, I still haven't "read" it because I had to skim over most of it to catch up from three pages back.

Wow.

You must be super lazy because posting is down and nobody actually comes here anymore... or something.

Excellently handled, guys

. Like NUance said (and other posters have said in the forums), he's a knowledgeable guy who can bring good insight. But as Mav noted, this is rather par for the course for him. Let's see how he responds.

He "reported" his response to the PM in the reporting section. No idea why other than he wanted to let us all see his response or beat his chest on how awesome he is.

Nuance

Thanks for the message I appreciate it
The name calling- goes both ways- usually starting with the know nothings

Its a shame someone who knows nothing about the game and feels bad about that lack of knowledge feels he has to attack someone who does know

Im probably not going to be on the board much longer, too many foam finger know nothings. I get little out of it- little kids living in moms basement guys.

FWIW- 2 of todays team members played for me and I talk t them often. Another- Zack Darlington and his family have stayed in my home many times, Ive been at theirs. Ive attended lots of practices and Ive had a good number of face to face meetings with Tom Osborne and other members of the former staff.

So many here don't get even the basics- and on top of it know little about Husker football history- while claiming their opinions are of "equal" value. Ive been to nearly every home game since 1970 and a bunch of away and Bowl games. Im "debating" with people that for the most part are clueless

Ha ha! That's interesting. He probly just hit the "Report" button instead of the PM "Reply" button which is right next to it. I suspect HB might be his first foray onto a message board.

jmfb and some other posters were still going at it last night at around 8:30pm. I got the impression that he had not yet read the PM I sent him a couple hours before. Maybe he'll figure out how to interact with others. Or maybe not. Given his Report response to the PM I sent him, he seems a bit full of himself.

Yeah if you want to. I already threw out a generic one in the thread. Maybe if it comes from another mod too, it will sink in a bit.
Looks good. A generic one in the thread is always a good idea. Lets all members know either don't do it or shows others that we do pay attention and would rather not have that type of response. Something they appreciate. I believe it helps on many levels.

If nothing else, jmfb is providing some fodder for off-season football conversation.

It's clear that he's is fairly knowledgeable. But he just insists on rubbing people the wrong way. I've traded a couple of PMs with him, trying to tactfully point out how to phrase things so as not to get into arguments. But he's sort of like a bull in a china closet in his conversational style. I've done what I can.

He's not really causing any harm. So we'll just see how it plays out.

I don't know. I'm just skimming and it seems like he's attacking in about every post. Not vicious. Just "you don't know" or "you're not smart" or that kind of stuff.

I agree that it's bumping the volume during the slow time, I just don't want everyone else pissed off.

Holy high horse Batman, what a pompous attitude.
