[Will] Schany, a three-time state wrestling champion, said Sunday that he recently gave his commitment to Virginia. He picked the Cavaliers over Nebraska and Iowa State.
“I kind of went with my gut feeling,” Schany said. “Great education, great wrestling program. The opportunity at Virginia was too good to pass up.”
One of five high school wrestlers in the state who will go for a fourth state title this season, Schany has a 122-8 record through three years.
He was Blair’s first state champion at 145 pounds as a freshman and followed that with campaigns of 41-1 and 43-1 at 170 and 182, respectively.
