Yes it is.
The defense budget is just plain idiotic and so many people just think it's the patriotic thing to do...bla bla bla.....I know liberals get accused of proposing pie in the sky social programs that we simply can't afford, but imagine the things we could do with just a slight readjustment of priorities. Ironically, the country would be stronger.
Or if we actually audited and made sure we get what we payed for, aren't over charged, and delays/budget over runs are at the contractors expense. The defense budget is just plain idiotic and so many people just think it's the patriotic thing to do...bla bla bla.....
We spend more than the next 10 countries. Unacceptable. If we would cut that in half, we would still be spending twice as much as China...the next leading country. And, think about what we could do with that money.
Well...imagine if we cut the budget in half AND did all that.Or if we actually audited and made sure we get what we payed for, aren't over charged, and delays/budget over runs are at the contractors expense.
I don't think the government should be run like a business outside of the military and infrastructure. We get absolutely ripped off in those areas and need some hardcore evaluation.
Indeed!Well...imagine if we cut the budget in half AND did all that.
But....that's not the "conservative" thing to do.
Imagine if that $ amount were near zero or even half and the country was still just as safe. Think of what that those hundreds of billions could fund domestically!! Military expenditures are bloated.Yes it is.
Yep.Imagine if that $ amount were near zero or even half and the country was still just as safe. Think of what that those hundreds of billions could fund domestically!! Military expenditures are bloated.
Now imagine what an even bigger $ number could fund domestically if our politicians (both sides) weren’t such asswipes and we weren’t paying more in debt service annually than what we pay in DOD expenditures. Kinda makes the “well all this debt is ok” argument sound pretty silly.
Cut military spending to a sustainable level.Yep.
The deficit is expected to be much lower than either 2020 or 2021, coming in at something like 1.3 trillion. So, cutting 400 billion from defense would immediately cut that by almost 1/3. There are other areas that could be cut also (not eliminated) by doing what @ZRod suggests and just be smarter with what we spend. Then, you put on top of that making sure everyone is paying the taxes they are supposed to be paying (funding the IRS the way they need to be) and...ding ding ding....we start getting to where we need to be.
Staged...totally fake.:clap
Damn I forgot about that one. For sureStop giving tons of cash to other countries
I would adjust this to, stop giving so much to countries halfway around the world because we need their oil (reduce our usage) and give to central american countries to improve their lives there so those people don't need to flee their country wanting to come here. We will still have quite a bit of immigration, which we need. But, it would cut it down.Stop giving tons of cash to other countries
This is a really good idea.I would adjust this to, stop giving so much to countries halfway around the world because we need their oil (reduce our usage) and give to central american countries to improve their lives there so those people don't need to flee their country wanting to come here.
