Just normal American Utopia...

Im not sure that you took the appropriate time  to read the posts carefully as you would have noticed I didn’t say ALL childless adults, which keen readers I’m sure picked up on.

That's why it's important for you to show us how society - and presumably government -- would prioritize the shaming and corrective action.

We have a "Democrat Utopia" thread and a "Republican Utopia" Thread.  Both of these threads collect the extreme thoughts from "both sides" and it becomes easy to become an antagonist.  Maybe antagonists are needed for entertaining discussion, but I think we can all agree nothing ever moves forward.  It just devolves to "why are you dodging the question?".

These threads are made up of events or statements that really only the fringes support.  Most of us, if given a moment to think objectively, would agree that "yeah, that's a bit nuts."

I know we have a "Better America of Our Dreams" thread that collects heartwarming stories between politicians and folks of different backgrounds.  But this thread is for policy.  Is there anything at all that we can agree on?  Is there any legislation going through now that we won't be outraged if it passes?  I hope there is.

This board is where I collect a lot of my resources when I form opinions on topics.  There generally isn't a shortage of passion or objective thinking.  But I rarely see a thread where our most passionate posters make comments like "yeah, I agree.  this [policy] could be good." when talking with "adversaries".

I wish I had a topic or tweet to start this thread, but I don't.  Do any of you?

Thought it was time to revisit the original post in this thread, decide if we're living up to it, and maybe move our tired and predictable arguments to more appropriate threads.

I can lead a horse to water, but I can’t make it drink :dunno
So, you think that people who really don’t want to have kids, should have kids. And, you think this is such a major problem that our society needs to be totally refocused in some way that you think it’s not. And you think this is such a big problem that it needs to be a political issue. Interesting.

You really really really didn’t get the whole fair share facetious tone in my earlier posts??     Those just flew right over your head.

Of course people don’t absolutely have to have kids.  Of course those that don’t are living off the backs of those that do and that’s ok.  And of course saying they aren’t doing their fair share of child rearing is as silly as people saying those that pay over half the tax into the treasurer while 50% who pay nothing argue the rich aren’t paying their fair share.

Btw….you can actually see what the government wants to prioritize by looking directly at the tax code.   See what they do with the tax code in regards to children and child care etc….

now stop mucking up the thread  :D
