Kenny Bell turning heads in practice

Kenny Bell --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ask Nebraska's Blackshirts to identify a few offensive scout team players who have given them fits throughout this year, and one freshman wide receiver emerges quickly from the pack.

“Kenny Bell,” NU cornerback Prince Amukamara said. “Oh man, that guy can fly. He's one of the fastest guys on the team. That guy can catch it. He's very swift.”

Faster than Prince, generally regarded as one of the Huskers' sprint champs?

Amukamara's pause says enough.

“He's kind of like Taylor Martinez in terms of acceleration,” Amukamara said. “But Kenny can keep accelerating.”

Good stuff aspeedlin...I thought he looked super athletic in his high school highlight reel. Hope he gives us a nice home run threat on the perimeter next year.

It was nothing that this article wouldn't tell you. Spoke to him the other night and he is very excited to start playing next fall.

I would personally guarantee each one of you reading this thread that Kenny Bell would beat any Big 12 wide receiver in a foot race.

It would be awesome for one of these hyped WRs - Brooks, Curenski, Khiry, Enunwa, SJB, and now Bell - to step up and turn it loose on the field. These are some seriously good signs about Bell.

I honestly would not be surprised to see Kenny get some quality PT next year. Especially in a special teams role early on, then eventually be our #2 target behind Kinnie.

The article says he can catch, too. Does the guy have legit ball skills, or is speed his primary weapon? Curenski Gilleylen is fast, too, but his hands don't seem to have panned out. That, or he can't block like an offensive guard, and that's keeping him off the field.

I think BW said once or twice that Curenski actually has great hands. He messed up one or two chances early on and kept getting the hook after that. I think Gilmore is keeping him off the field more than anything, but not sure.

We need some receivers who can fly...very encouraging to hear, EZ!

That's been the case with more than one. Beware of Gilmore's doghouse. Enter and you may never leave!!!

If that's true it won't matter if we have the second comings of Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson on the practice squad, because they'll never see the field... for whatever reason. This frustrates me so much.

Encouraging indeed, but we get these reports about someone being the next big thing and the player usually fizzles out. I understand the message board hype, but until a guy produces on the field I'll reserve judgement. This is not a knock on aspeedlin or EZ-E or anyone else with good info, just my personal stance.

Hopfully we can get some solid receivers, how we miss Purify and Swift.

This has embellished written all over it. If it were true, he would have seen PT this year like Enunwa. Either that, or he is really bad at blocking.
