Kenny Bells recent comment about Coach Williams.

Dagerow said:
I appreciate that Bell said something that gets lost in a lot of these discussions, something I have thought a lot: you can support NU when Bo was coach and now that Riley is our coach. One doesn't have to be a bad coach for the other to be a good coach. They are not mutually exclusive.
True.

Still.

“Within the first 30 minutes of working with him, he identified every single thing I struggled with throughout my entire career,” Bell said. “Thirty minutes after that, we were fixing them.”

It's hard to read something like that -- and the specific choice of words -- and not conclude that the new coach is vastly better than his previous coaches.

It's kinda the point of making the statement.

I agree 100% and said something similar to your comments. For Bell, who was drafted and hopefully playing on Sundays, to say that within 30 minutes........... Seems to echo that our previous staff was seriously lacking in the player development arena.

I figure substantially more experienced staff is good for 1-2 wins. A new system, and a new conference for the staff probably is equal to 1-2 losses so I figure the first year is probably a wash and Riley should get the all important 9 wins. I think the losses (hope for none!) will be substantially closer than under Bo.

Looking forward to a season with buy in from fans, staff, administration, press, players etc.....

“He’s perfect for Nebraska,” Bell said. “The fans absolutely love him and he’s got the personality for the players. He’s got the personality for this city, this state. He’s outgoing, he’s fun to be around, he’s hilarious. On top of that, he’s one of the best wide receivers coaches in the country. You put all those factors into one man and you’re going to have a successful receiving corp.”

KB also stated he had nothing but respect for the former coaching staff and thanked them for getting him to the place he is now.

I am positive that the new wide receivers coach is going to be very good. I think you going to see that from the videos that he puts up. He has that type of personality that I think will pull people in. With that said he is helping Kenny Bell out in a big way here so you would imagine Kenny would be nothing but very very complementary of him.

Very telling comments IMO and not just praise as he is helping KB. Not knocking Fisher as one huge improvement was in the dropped balls area with our receivers. I think this is a statement that again shows how little experience most of the staff had in regards to development, teaching technique and to get sound fundamental execution/

Having coaches who are desirable to other programs is a good problem to have but I agree it may be difficult to keep these guys. ADSE will need to open the checkbook. In the meantime I'll watch as our players get coached up. If TA can learn to deliver the ball and the O line can block with some regularity, this may be a special year.

I'd say next year could be special. I don't think there is any chance that this year becomes "special"
