Lattimore

I saw a lot of outlets citing the same dubious source when reporting the femur+patella+4 ligament injury late last night, but none of that information was actually coming from anywhere associated with the SC athletic department. This morning, Spurrier was reporting that Lattimore had "only" dislocated his knee. The more severe injury report making the rounds last night seems to have just been an unfounded rumor.
i am no doctor.....and i did not stay at a holicay inn.....but from what i saw on tv i would say that is much more than "only dislocated".

Spurrier hasn't yet talked with Lattimore, who turns 21 on Monday, about his future. The coach said the full extent of Lattimore's knee damage is unknown, although he did not hear from doctors or trainers the most dire prognoses of broken bones and full ligament tears that popped up on social media. Spurrier said recovery will take some time, perhaps more than one offseason.
Hopeful news.

Broken femur, broken patellar, and all knee ligaments torn sounds like a surefire career killer. I'm hopeful that it just looked far more gruesome than the extent of the damage actually is. With a dislocation, I guess that's believable...

My nurse wife says dislocation is possible without all the damage. My son broke his femur, so I have some idea of the pain involved. Breaking the femur takes a lot, and in the video I did not see evidence of a broken femur unless it might have spiral. Either way, my prayers for him and his family for as long as it takes to overcome this. I know he said he almost quit after the last knee injury. I am hoping he heels and becomes a great NFL running back. Such a good kid, so much like Rex, this is just so sad.

Link.

Not quite as bad as dislocated shoulder, one foot under the arm, one on the neck pull and twist. Seen it done many times in motocross.

Nasty, sounds a bit similar to Willis McGeehe (sp) of Ohio State a few years back, in the bowl game I believe, like his lower leg was at about a 90* angle from the upper leg?
That's what the announcers were saying, they said maybe he could rebound like McGeehe. I don't know though, it was pretty ugly. When came to rest his leg from the knee down was 90* out of place from his upper leg. The second I saw where his foot/lower leg was in relation to his body I knew he was bad, and maybe his career was over. But with medicine today who knows, he maybe back next year.

I really feel horrible for the guy, but in some respects after watching that 30 for 30 "Broke" it could be a blessing in disguise. If he can't go again at least he can focus on a good education, and still have a great life.

Just read this update on ESPNU:

South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore hyperextended his right knee against Tennessee, causing injury to several ligaments, the school said in a release Sunday.

Coach Steve Spurrier said the injury is something Lattimore can come back from to play football again.

There were no fractures or additional injuries, according to team physician Jeffrey Guy.
