Well first things first - a good portion of the board already thinks I'm a board apologist and your teacher's pet, so might as well make it official right?

I've wanted to help the board out for a while more than my regular posting, and think I could fit the criteria well. I've got plenty of experience as a mod/admin on a handful of different sites over the last 10 ish years.

You guys pretty much know who I am and what I have to offer - I know I've had a small handful of warnings and vacations but I like tugging on my leash. Shorten it and I tug less So there's not a lot more I know to say unless there are any questions you've got for me. I've been around, I know the drill, I'd like to help.

I'm interested if you guys need help. I won't be as active over the next couple weeks as I just started a new job, but after that, I should be on the board quite frequently.

That lines up with what I expected. A dead site was the main complaint I had about my former husker home on the web, Big Red Report at Scout.com. The mods weren't active, after they changed head guys, so a few bad posters ran off everyone who disagreed with them, and now it's a ghost town. And that's why I'm here now.

I think my strong suit is a bit similar to Mavric's, posting new content. I have a background in Marketing and just started a new job as Marketing Manager for a 9 month old company. I also run the web site and social media for my local alumni group here in Tampa, so I think I can bring alot to the table by keeping up with new topics. I have a nice set of CFB, and Nebraska football centric bookmarks that I check daily, along with twitter, so I can hopefully stay on top of things and keep people coming back.

I am a member of a board in Minnesota that was via a radio station. It had all minnesota sports, and the atmosphere is awful. I would never share personal information on there because it is so bad.. people are truly cruel. I still check it out for news, but rarely post. A few years ago, a few people branched off to create a Minnesota Twins focused board. I was asked to mod and did for about 6 months.

At first, we had a very tight ship.. anyone who was rude, or attacked another poster was banned. It created some disdain, but eventually we had a fairly small, but solid group of people who just talked baseball. Sadly the hosting site got in trouble with MLB for using the Twins name and logo without permission. The site was shut down.

I understand the pressures of being a mod, and also how you cant jump the gun. I never once banned or suspended someone without checking with another admin(unless it was for something obvious: Nudity/direct threats).

I would be happy to continue to grow with Huskerboard, but am also 100% ok if you decide to hold off. Wont make me show up any less.

In terms of questions:

What kind of area do you most need in a new admin?

Where do you feel your current staff lacks, and you think needs to be addressed by adding someone new, or is this addition based on size/growth of site?

What are the best traits you see in a good mod/ and what are the worst traits?

What are your biggest concerns with me in filling this role?

I understand the role, so dont have many questions.

Cool stuff....

Our biggest area of improvement is in being creative in creating threads and responding to created threads. I'm looking for people who are generally inquisitive and have a knack with creating a buzz with words.Not necessarily on the board all the time or interested in who needs warnings or not. I have several people who are very strong in that already. People who like creating polls......stuff like that.

The best mods don't take things so seriously. They dont worry what others or one person says.

I took a look at the threads you created, it looks like they've generated some good discussion so that's good.

I'd be comfortable starting threads. My biggest concern would be just making sure I don't start duplicates, but I'm usually good about making sure there isn't a thread already when I do start threads, so I don't think that'd be much of an issue.

Thanks for the feedback. Don't let that be a concern at all. I don't look around to much before I post. Some people complain, but I let it roll right down my back. You have a core group of people who are on everyday...that number is probably around 50. They know this board inside and out. Better than me, They will get cranky, but you can't please everyone even though I really try.

I'm going to pass this on and get back with you. Please keep asking questions and making comments.

I would consider being a Mod if it would help HB. (Also, I wouldn't be disappointed in the least if you have others who would do better. lol) Just trying to pitch in and help out with the community.

If you think it's appropriate, would it be possible to keep NUance and also become a Mod with a different name? I realize there is a prohibition against having multiple accounts. It's just that NUance says a lot of goofy things that a Mod couldn't or shouldn't say. Like making jokes and sech. lol

Yeah, I think I could do all the things discussed in your post. I do quite a few of those things now.

As far as the dual names go, it's not a huge deal for me. It's just that I say things as NUance--goofy jokes and such--that I probably would refrain from as a Mod. I suspect people would take it differently if a Mod cracked a joke at their expense versus a joke being made by a rank and file member.

Wow, that's quite an endorsement. Knapp sets the Mod bar pretty high as far as being reasonable and even keeled about things.

Since there was some interest in me as a new mod, I thought I was at least talk to you about the position and responsibilities.

BTW, my real name is Adam.

I am comfortable with most of these responsibilities and have the necessary skills/abilities. However, it's been awhile since I was in marketing class, so I would have to make an effort to learn how to generate revenue for the website. Still, I am interested in giving it a go. In full disclosure, I spend much of my time on the board in the Recruiting forum, in addition to the football forum, wrestling thread, and toolshed. I know Mavric has become the go to mod for the Recruiting forum and has done an outstanding job, so I would wonder if my contributions would be too redundant with what Mavric is already bringing to Huskerboard.
