Listening to Bennings Description of His Interview with Langs

Frank was not cut out to be the head coach at a program like Nebraska. He's found a position more suitable to his skillset. So in the end it worked out well for everyone. But when Osborne retired, there should have been a national seatch for a replacement.
Really not worth getting into this again, but why completely blow up a NC staff because the HC retired? That would have been insane.
More or less insane than promoting someone who was a good coordinator but not ready to lead a program of this caliber? Promoting from within only makes sense if you have the right candidate who is ready to go. Solich was not that guy.
frank was toms hand picked replacement.
Osborne had a lot of skills as a head coach and then AD. Picking someone else to lead the program was not one of them.

no one was going to tell tom no. and it wasn't the worst possible hire. i think it might have worked out if he had been given another year with his new staff but we will never know now.

Steve Pederson is a f'ing idiot who destroyed Nebraska football.

And only a non-fan would think NU lost to Kansas under Frank.
Nobody here is defending Steve Pederson for anything, he single handedly set us back 10 years.
I gave Steve Pederson the benefit of the doubt in the beginning, turns out the "naysayers" were right in his case. Has Pederson been good for any program he's been at?

He was good for Pitt during his first stint.

And then the second stint came around.

And given his Husker roots, Steve Pederson was the Scott Frost of AD hires at the time.

A lot of stuff becomes clear only with hindsight.

You guys realize that elite coaches are really hard to find, and that being a great coach is a very difficult thing to do, right?

It's not like they grow on trees with easily identifiable characteristics.

Nobody was going to continue the run of success that Osborne ended his career with, because it was the best run in cfb history. But to hand pick a successor that went 9-2, 12-1, 10-2, 11-2, with 3 top ten finishes including being one fumble away from playing for two national championships in 4 years, is a successful coach chosen.

Stop with the lies.
