LOMS and Dewiz status spat

I think that's about as strong a way to put it as one can, saunders.

I think the important thing is to approach this the right way if it is in fact something we do, and I think we should get all the mods/admins to weigh in. I can start a new thread in the leadership forum later this morning to make it more clear what we're discussing and to open up the debate.

I believe it's paramount that we don't try to cull the overall P&R discussion, which I don't get the vibe that's what any of us are saying. I think we're all cognizant of the fact that it drives traffic/discussion to the site regularly, particularly during the off season. But, given how divisive and problematic these issues can be, and that this is a Huskerboard, even I feel trying to limit the exposure on the main page is probably worth chatting about.

I won't deny it - his status update really irritates me. He was suspended for his political trolling in the status updates just before the season started and he has to have seen our announcement about keeping that stuff out of the updates.

But you guys are trying to be PC and censor him and yada yada yada. 

I don't care what your political affiliation is, if you can't follow the rules, you're not going to be here. If you don't like the rules, then leave. Simple as that.

This time it was just Dewiz. Zoo gave him a warning for it and hid the post. It said:

It's a shot at all the people who said they'd scream at the sky in protest of Trump's inauguration i.e. mostly liberals. This is exactly the type of stuff he was warned to no longer post about and which we warned the board to no longer post about. If it was anyone else then I would be more lenient about it. I feel like we had turned a corner with him since he returned from his suspension and I know for a fact his suspension had been lifted when we plastered the board with 'no political updates' announcements.

I know he knows better which is why I joke that I'm glad Zoo saw it before I did. I might've given him a long term suspension. It's warning #9 for him and this exact thing 'triggered' the board all summer long.

 
They were both back at each other in the Star Spangled Banner thread.  Dewiz PMed me complainging about a personal attack by Landlord.  I told him it works both ways and he shouldn't instigate if he doesn't want people to attack him. 

Moved several posts to Offending Posts and moved the thread to P&R

I understand your treating others the way you want to be treated stance but I didn’t say anything to landlord to deserve the snowflake reference.

It was a personal attack.  Just like yours was (or probably more precisely a troll post but basically the same effect).
If you're wanting to get that picky, you should have been suspended for your status update a couple days ago that was specifically forbidden a couple months ago in addition to being a troll post.  I really don't think you want to go down this road.
In cases where things are getting out of hand, we often move the posts out of the thread and post a general warning for everyone to cool down.

My post wasn’t a troll post. That’s the problem with this board if someone doesn’t like something someone said they’re deemed a troll. How many times have people called you out for posting non stop Football threads during the off-season and posters don’t like it? Is that trolling? I’ve been on this board for 10 years and within the last 6 months all of a sudden I’m a troll because my opinions differs from others? 
 
Here’s the thing with Landlord. He’s called me a misogynist, racist and now a snowflake with no repercussions taking apon on his actions. No suspensions nothing but I call him a tool and I’m suspended for a week. Had I replied to his snowflake post with a picture of let’s say tools, I would’ve been suspended indefinitely.
 
My status update yesterday wasn’t meant to ruffle any feathers, just pointing out the sad State our nation is in a year later. Why is ok for NM to post a status “The resistance is real” and it stayed up on the board for 15 hours? 
 
I understand I’m not perfect and I’ve said/done some things on this board that deserved a suspension but I get frustrated when Landlord calls me a misogynist and a racist and nothing gets done about it. Today was the final straw and that’s why I message you.

If you're labeling me as someone who likes to claim about anything is trolling, you have completely misjudged the situation.
 
I'm assuming a lot of that name-calling has been going in in the P&R forum.  I almost never go in there.  I don't remember seeing it elsewhere though I don't see (or remember) everything.  There is a reporting feature for things like that to make sure it comes to the Mods attention.  
 
Trying to portray yourself as the victim (such as saying you'd be immediately suspended) is not going to get you anywhere.  You do plenty to stir the pot yourself.  If you want things to improve, start with the things you can control.  "They did it first" is for elementary kids.
 
You don't see what you do as ruffling feathers.  That is pretty telling.  You expect others to act a certain way but are apparently oblivious to yourself doing the same thing.  This would seem to be a lot of the problem.

Landlord has been suspended a week for trolling Dewiz in his status update.  BRI had previously warned him about doing exactly that.  Plus it was a political troll which has also been made plain that it shouldn't be in status updates.
