Looking Back ... Looking Forward

We have too many returning starters to call this a rebuilding year. We have two RBs who will combine to get Ameer's yards, we are perhaps more loaded at WR than we've ever been, and we can and should expect a better defensive line regardless of Gregory.

This team just needs an attitude adjustment. And open competition at every position.

How many losses would we have had last year if we didn't have ameer, bell or gregory? We lose to mcneese state and iowa which would have put us at 6 losses. Yet, people are saying 5 losses would be a failure next year when we lose our best producers...
Here is something else I scratch my head about.
Can't any team that wins a game say that about their star players?
Not many teams have a top 3 rb in the nation as their star player not do they have one of the best dlineman in the nation.

Remember, Ron Kellogg III was the better percentage passer, the pure drop back guy, the stay in the pocket guy and a really nice guy, but that didn't make him a better quarterback or leader, which is really the job description.
I'll take wins over percentages every time and Ron couldn't beat Iowa.
Say what you will about Martinez and Armstrong, but they were fearless in a way that Ron Kellogg, Cody Green, Brion Carnes and other forgotten would-be phenoms weren't.

Technique sure would have helped, but competitive instinct can't be taught.
TMart and TArm flat out better athletes than those others.
