If I had to guess, Keith Williams played a part through his St. Louis connections and getting the initial door open.Does anyone believe this is how it happened?
It’s not “Longest Yard” or “Necessary Roughness”. Next thing we will hear is some coach saw him at Runza and asked him if he played ball.
You would think we-as in the University- know the rules and would not jeopardizes our standing. Unless there are no rules.Possible timeline for him to be eligible to play:
Guy leaves LSU
Guy just shows up at Nebraska and enrolls in classes
Guy shows up at the football offices and asks if he can Walk-on
Guy can play as he didn't enter the portal and there was zero interaction between him and the football coaches before he arrived at NU and started classes
The murky part comes in with how did he know all this information and the steps to take to possibly become eligible to play right away.
This new world of college football is weird.
is there an official enroll or attend by date? Or can a guy bail out anytime? Does his late enroll date mean he can’t play this year? Don’t see how this happens in the future when there is a roster cap
Is there a date portal guys have to pick a school by? Could he have been in the portal this whole time and just now decided to pick Nebraska?
I'd like to believe any communication happened through 3rd parties and no one in the athletic department walked him through the steps, but this feels like a lets play it safe and not play this guy until December/next year to make sure there are no compliance issues. You would think we-as in the University- know the rules and would not jeopardizes our standing. Unless there are no rules.
he is at practice, right? Maybe he’s going to sit it out until December. If there is a small crack- after fall camp, but before game one, he sure did find it.
