Honestly disappointed with Luke on this one. He could have been a special player here. Not at QB though. He's never going to be an elite QB, but he could have been an elite versatile player like his brother.

QB depth is pretty scary. AMart has had his injury concerns, and Smothers is an unknown.

Yeah I kinda am disappointed in Luke as well. I mean Nebraska gave him a shot a QB and he had some good moments, he also had some bad moments that I think he could have worked through. Anyway best of luck yadda yadda yadda. 

I am excited to see what Smothers can do.

To me, Luke leaving doesn't change the QB depth.

If Smothers is as good as advertised, we should be fine.  We would have 2AM, Smothers and a true freshman.

Spring ball is VERY important to get done.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. If he is set on being a qb go somewhere else.

It's disappointing and the team would be better if he would stay.  But, I'm not sure how the staff could have done anything different.

Maybe, the reason Frost pushed him to move to WR full time is because he has seen how good Smothers is.  (pure speculation...but it's possible)

The coaches probably wouldn't have approached McCaffrey at getting reps at other positions in Spring practice if they weren't confident in Smothers.  But, yes, it is still concerning from a depth standpoint.

This is not the same as losing Wandale or JD. Luke was not going to see the field at QB. If he’s dead set on being behind center, it’s going to have to happen somewhere else.

It's too bad to lose such an athlete, but if he's sticking to QB, it's really not much of a loss.  AND, it opens the door to get a good QB to Nebraska, so it may end up being a net positive.
