“Weakest Link”???

Come on, manThread should be locked for now. It can be reopened later but for now, it should be locked.just think about what its inviting. I am encouraged by everything else on this team, but right now Martinez is the weakest link. Moderators are probably waiting to lock this but guarantee Martinez does this next week this thread gets locked.
CHICAGO -- The preseason recognition keeps rolling in for Nebraska sophomore quarterback Adrian Martinez.
Martinez was one of 10 Big Ten players named to a preseason watchlist voted on by a media panel.
Martinez is joined on the Big Ten watchlist from the West division by Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore, Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor, Iowa defensive end A.J. Epenesa and Northwestern linebacker Paddy Fisher.
In the East, the watchlist members are Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins and defensive end Chase Young, Penn State defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos, Michigan State linebacker Joe Bachie and Michigan State defensive end Kenny Willekes.
9. QB Adrian Martinez, Nebraska
As a freshman, Martinez outplayed veterans like Auburn's Jarrett Stidham and Mississippi State's Nick Fitzgerald from a Total QBR standpoint and, perhaps more important, drastically outdid what UCF's McKenzie Milton managed as a freshman under Scott Frost's guidance. If he takes a Milton-esque sophomore leap, the Huskers become a potential top-10 team with minimal defensive improvement.

I think many of us on Huskerboard have been saying this and thinking it all off-season long. The most interesting piece of this was their thought that if Martinez takes a Milton-esque leap the Huskers can be a top-10 team even with the defense improving slightly.
And the thing is I think it is possible. After hearing DiNardo comment on our QB depth it instantly made me think about how lucky we are to have Mario Verduzco coaching these guys, Frost as well. Everywhere they have been, when the system is established, their QBs are extremely productive. The most interesting piece of this was their thought that if Martinez takes a Milton-esque leap the Huskers can be a top-10 team even with the defense improving slightly. I think our DL and DBs should take a decent step forward with our pass rush and linebacker depth being the biggest concerns. So, Martinez leap plus more than minimal defensive improvement equals :koolaid2: :restore

The B1G road crew talked about it when they interviewed Walters. The core philosophy of this offense is putting defenders in conflict - take your numbers advantage in some area of the field. Make the players split. The defender has to choose which one he covers - whether it's two receivers going in and out, a receiver over the top with a screen to the edge, etc.And the thing is I think it is possible. All over the country teams are announcing their starting quarterbacks for week one.
The longer Frost waits to announce ours, the more worried I get that Adrian Martinez has had a serious regression.
