Do you guys think this is OK? Street Novelist calls out another member in his profile, and does so using the guy's quote which is borderline. What do you think of this?

I think it's fine, he's just quoting the guy. I'm a member on Allbuffs and I witnessed him saying this first hand. There was a thread on this a few months ago and it's since died down. I'd let it go.......

That's what I'm concerned about. Is it really being let go if he's keeping this in his profile page?

 
I'd say lose it. It adds no value and will do nothing but instigate a flame war if/when discovered. At the very least PM Street Novelist and politely ask him to modify or delete so that he is not calling out other members derogitorially.

I suppose there will always be a chance for a flame war over it, but like BRI said, it's been up for quite a while. :dunno

 
Yeah, that's been up there a while - and it is a direct quote. If I'm recalling correctly, he and Beach Buff even had an exchange (relatively friendly) over it. Unless something happens, I'd say leave it.

 
I vote for leaving it. I agree it could incite a flame war, but apparently it's been up for a while.

Besides, douches should be outed for being douches :) :laughpound

 
Good feedback everyone. Clearly this isn't a crucial situation, since BeachBuffs likely won't be here until September anyway. Even then he may never see Street's profile, and on top of that Street might become bored with it and change it before it's an issue.

This falls under the category of "can't hurt to ask." I appreciate the hard work in digging this up knapplc. Your on the board quite a bit and are really doing a great job. Thanks for agreeing to be a mod.

Questions like this help us to find our niche as a board. We certainly want members to have fun and let people be unique, but we can't have people calling each other out and calling there mothers whores or something, but on the flip side it's not daycare.

I think, and the more tenured mods can jump in, we will almost always side on the more lenient side. Just too much to watch over.
