Molestation Investigation at Syracuse

Just heard this.

These things sicken me to hear.

If anything, maybe the Penn st. situation has brought more attention on sexually abused children. Maybe this will give them the strength to get their stories out that they have been living with for so long and take a step forward in recovery from such awful actions.

 
"On hearing of the allegations in 2005, the University immediately launched its own comprehensive investigation through its legal counsel. That nearly four-month long investigation included a number of interviews with people the complainant said would support his claims. All of those identified by the complainant denied any knowledge of wrongful conduct by the associate coach. The associate coach also vehemently denied the allegations....

Outside the Lines investigated Davis's story in 2003 but decided not to run the story because there were no other victims who would talk, and no independent evidence to corroborate the boy's story. In recent days, a second man contacted Outside the Lines with information alleging that Fine had also molested him. That man said he was inspired to finally talk after seeing news coverage of the Sandusky case.

Sounds like Syracuse U. investigated, and tried to get the facts of the case. Which is way more than PSU did.

 
I hate to play devil's advocate here, but part of me thinks that a lot of "cases" are going to be brought up in the next couple of weeks/months. Maybe they're genuine, maybe they're not. Just playing devil's advocate, nothing else. Do not crucify me.

 
Jim Boeheim just made an interesting statement to ESPN on SportsCenter....mainly saying the kids are lying. I sure hope he's right, cause if he isn't it won't look good.

I don't think this is the kind of story that too many people will make up about themselves. The public as a whole has sympathy for the victims, but I think there's still a stigma attached to them by some people on an individual basis. I think it's a good point not to form a lynch mob for the accused. I just hate to see anything that discourages real victims from stepping forward.

I wouldn't put it past someone that is desperate and down on their luck, maybe trying to make a quick buck through a settlement or a lawsuit. The truth would probably come out eventually if it were false but unfortunately this world is full of people just champing at the bit to exploit situations like this for money.
