I don't have any proof on this but I have a sneaking suspicion that MountainMan is Polo or someone in that former group. He cracked an unwarranted joke about Sipple's arrest here which seemed like a very Polo-esque thing.

I can't draw any hard conclusions, however, MountainMan and Polo have some odd IP similarities. Both members have/had IP addresses that register to different areas of (mostly) California. Polo would rotate between a handful of similar IPs and MountainMan's looks like the same pattern, although, the IPs are now different. At the very least, they're using a VPN service or something to alter their location on a regular basis.

Anywho, I don't think there's much I can prove or do at this point unless somebody else wanted to take a look and see if they can see anything I missed. It may only serve as a function of keeping an eye out on their behavior.

 
Yeah, it seems extremely likely that he's one of that crew.  Gives a lot of +1s to StPaulHusker.

The only thing I was point to as NOT being Polo is I think Polo would post more often.  

 
Perhaps he's trying to fly under the radar a bit? I just remembered too that this discussion was brought up in the StPaul thread that MountainMan may be a sock account.

 
Yeah, I've been pretty sure it's one of that gang for awhile but I'm not sure who.

The main reason I don't think it's Polo is because I don't think he'd just lurk like that.  Plus he's vindictive enough to never come back.  I could be wrong but Polo just doesn't seem to fit.

Basically all MountainMan does is follow SPH around and +1 him.  Has for a couple years.

 
In a PM. He didn't exactly say it, but they way it was phrased, along with previous suspicions... I'd bet money on it.

@MountainMan has issued six positive reactions to posts in the last 24 hours. Five +1's, one 'Thanks.'

He gave them all to StPaul.

I'm glad we have him on Mod Preview. He hasn't really posted since it happened and he basically left the board from October until now, conveniently back at an optimal pot-stirring time. I'm OK with keeping that as is for now since it seems to have stopped him from wanting to post at least.

I noticed that trend when he first popped up. The vast majority of his interactions are with St Paul, and he's even been in the woodshed.

As far as I'm concerned, he's on the 1 strike rule. He so much as looks at someone wrong, he's gone.
