Meh. I'd guess much sooner than that people will get bored with it. The damage of the BC era is over, and now all eyes are on Bo. Callahan will serve as a counterpoint to all the success most of us know about Husker football, and not much more.

I totally agree that the damage of the BC era is over but there will always be jokes. Sports is all about comparing teams, players, coaches and so on. You always compare the past to the present. So the jokes will always be there. I think what will be gone will be the crybabies that still try to stick up for him. I dont mean you, please dont take it that way.

I know where you're coming from. I would equate the future of the BC cracks much the same as the Jammal Lord comments we hear now. Lord gets brought up in several conversations, and while most of it is along the lines of "he's not a good QB" there's a lot of talk about how he was a damned good runner, and good guy, etc.

I'm one of the biggest Bill Callahan Era detractors out there, but even I give the guy props about the good things he did (academics remained up, Football 101 Breast Cancer fundraiser, etc). I think the sting is still somewhat fresh for people, but they'll get over it pretty soon.

 
The Lord comparison is a good one, I think you are dead on about that.

I just dont think it will ever go away, I do think some people have a hard time with it because they tried so hard to defend him even when it was clear that things were terrible. I thought he was doing great and then BAM, he basically gave all of us a facial (sorrry, that might be kind of crude hahaha).

but here, people get it. ITS A JOKE, BC sucked and its okay to admit that. This is not a job, this shouldnt be work. BC sucked and if people make jokes about it, good for them. Guess what, in 20 years, people will still be making jokes about him.
