Didn’t really know where to put this so started a new thread. Feel free to share your strings of bad luck here but I’ll start it off.
This has all happened to me in the last month-
1- About 4 weeks ago I was scheduled for surgery to remove a 10cm hydrocele (water tumor) from my scrotum. For those who don’t know the metric system that well, that is a 4” diameter tumor/growth. Yep, about the size of a softball. It really hadn’t been causing me any problems but it was getting pretty uncomfortable and I finally tired of putting off having them cut into my balls. As you can probably understand I was not looking forward to that. Anyway had the surgery, it went well and I recovered pretty well within a few days. One other little tidbit...Doc had to leave a drain tube in for a few days and I had to cut the suture and remove the tube myself. Was easier than I anticipated but still not something you really want to do.
2- Five days after that surgery I get hit with this excruciating pain in my right side and back. I writhe in severe pain at home for about 3 hours, it’s so bad it makes me puke. Finally go to the ER at 11:30 at night. They give me morphine....doesn’t even begin to help the pain. Do a CT scan...kidney stones. I have a 18mm (shooter marble size) on my left side and a 4mm stone on the right side. The large stone is completing blocking my kidney from draining so they rush me over to the hospital in an ambulance to do immediate surgery. The bizarre/lucky thing is the Urologist who did my ball surgery is the on call guy that night. So he goes in with a camera and laser, blasts the stones, removes what he can and puts stents in to keep my ureters expanded. Problem is the stones had them constricted and he couldn’t get up into my kidneys to get all the fragments. But he says they may pass on their own....come see me in a week, we’ll do another CT scan and see. The recovery from this one is rough. Peeing for the next 3 days can best be described as pissing shards of glass that are on fire. It is the 2nd most painful thing I’ve ever endured. The 1st being that original kidney stone pain.
3- Go in for the CT scan, not good, have to go have the same surgery again. The only good thing is the 2nd time he will remove the stents while I am under. That is good because, did I mention, they do all of this without cutting you open, they go in through your urethra. They leave long strings from the stents up by the kidneys down to just about the end of the urethra and have to go in, grab them and pull them out. I wasn’t looking forward to that being wide awake. At. All. Oh, 2 hours after the CT scan the doc calls me and asks if I’m having any pain on my lower right side....because they saw on the scan that my appendix was inflamed and it looks like appendicitis. He says if it’s hurting me I need to immediately go to the hospital to have my appendix removed. Well it wasn’t hurting me before he called but I’ll be darned if it didn’t start hurting afterwards. Anyway it wasn’t that bad so I dodged that bullet...for now, so far.
4- Had my 2nd kidney surgery 3 days ago, 3rd surgery in 3 weeks. It went great. I’m feeling pretty good today. The stents are out. No pain peeing, everything’s great.
The other gems that happened in this same time frame.
-My son’s car, which we still insure, gets rear ended.
-a week later, same son, same vehicle, hits a guardrail coming down the mountain from Estes Park in a rainstorm. Scars up the front wheel flare and completely loses the rear one. He’s paying for this one.
-we have a hail storm in Greeley. House sustains much damage, roof, gutters, windows, screens, grill, other stuff. Over $18,000 on the insurance claim.
- but we were lucky none of our cars got hit. Daughter (who parks outside) was across town and avoided the hail.....only to get hit n runned 2 days later in a Target parking lot.
Oh, and the kicker, I got in a pissing match with knapp on HB in there too
and I have a colonoscopy scheduled for 2 weeks from now. I’ve had to reschedule it twice because of all this other sh#t.
Dont know about you but I think I’ve paid my dues for awhile.
Edit- Oops, forgot one. Daughter dropped her phone in the toilet, fried it. There's another $149 for the phone insurance deductible. And I didn't win the Mega Millions Lottery even though I purchased 5 tickets when it went over $500M.
