NCAA in "Deep Discussion" to Implement Revenue Sharing with Athletes

I think the schools are wanting to push down the limit so there aren't as many mouths to feed with revenue sharing/NIL.
Correct, the schools were trying to save money by implementing a hard roster limit immediately, and the judge did the sane thing and said the limit needed to be phased in or players grandfathered in.

But the payout is set. If there are more athletes, then it spreads thinner.  They still have to pay everyone since 2015, even if they moved on or were eliminated. I don’t believe it changes the total amount.

I could see a current or future athlete wanting to know how many slices of the pie there are.  But really I think it should be up to the school. Or maybe even the conference, to set roster numbers.  There would be some advantage to have more in cases of injury.

There are many more revenue streams for athletes than just the revenue sharing that is capped.

Because that doesn't seem to be what the schools want.
How do you know this?  The NCAA is the defendant, not the schools.

If a voluntary grandfather clause is added and acceptable to the judge we’ll see how many schools utilize it.  Until then I don’t think there is any proof of what schools want. There may even be a difference between sports

The schools are the NCAA.
They are not.

They are not.

The rules governing NCAA sports are developed through a member-led governance system. Using this collection of committees led by college and university presidents, athletics directors and college athletes, NCAA members introduce and vote on proposed legislation. The national office staff provides administrative help, continuity, research and legal expertise.
