nebraskafaninwi 'report', & recruiting

nebraskafaninwi made a status update report, so I'm logging notes here as they won't be in the Report Center.

I made a polite request to a person that made a profile prior to having an offer from Nebraska and asked the person that owns the thread to add in the Nebraska offer in the first post. Nothing wrong with asking that to be done.
So a person that made a comment threw a hissy fit and made the thread a personal attack, which is highly unprofessional to do in a recruit profile. It only damages our image with recruits. A ban for 30 days would seem reasonable so that person realizes he shouldn't do that ever again.

Please delete the posts that are personal attacks that were made by that poster.

I unapproved the entire meta-discussion in the TE Daniel Helm thread that got off topic. Mavric, the guy with whom WI is taking issue, could not have been further from a hissy fit, but it did merit a thread clean-up. No action should be taken on Mavric for this. I've left the posts unapproved but still in the thread for convenience. It will be ugly for moderators to read but it will be much easier to see what went on there this way, than if those posts got moved.

I also deleted the status update report.

On a related note, the problem appears to be mainly of people starting threads, but never being around to update the profiles afterwards. I think that happens often enough and it's to be expected. For those interested (mainly WI, I guess, he seems really on top of this stuff), I made the thread [PROSPECT PROFILE UPDATES] for the times when something needs or could be changed but Nexus is undergoing system maintenance

I don't really follow Recruiting anymore, but I think if we 'follow' that thread we will get notifications when someone posts in it.

nebraskafaninwi is an interesting dude. He's hardcore. I wouldn't be surprised to see him flame out - he's putting a LOT of work into the recruiting forums. My experience with people on message boards who hit it that hard, that fast, is that they peak and crash. We'll see. As long as he's not causing problems, he's doing us a favor with these recruiting updates.

I'm late to the party here, but wanted to let you know that I've managed to finally get caught up with organizing the 2014 section. I appreciate nebraskafaninwi's promptness with creating profiles, even though he's hit & miss with his layout structure. For example: The last dozen or so profiles he's created he's omitted adding an ESPN link. It's no biggie though. I've been going in and adding those links whenever necessary. There are other little peculiarities, but nothing worth raising a stink over. I guess the best way to describe his posting style is that he's not methodical. You can tell by quickly skimming every profile he's created. No complaints though. I don't mind reorganizing his threads whenever they call for it.

zoogies, that thread you created was a great idea. Before I left, I noticed nebraskafaninwi wasn't adding links from the recruiting services, so like I mentioned above, I would follow up and edit his threads by adding whatever pertinent info. was needed afterwards. I know people who frequent the recruiting forum are used to a particular profile layout/structure which includes links to each recruiting site. It's been that way even before I joined HB, so I can see how that might rankle some feathers if the layout itself is "half-assed" for lack of a better word? However his effort to stay on top of recruiting is admirable to say the least.

nebraskafaninwi isn't the first and certainly won't be the last to "half-a$$" profiles here and there. Like I said, I don't mind reorganizing/editing whatever info. is needed afterwards.

BTW, thanks for holding down the recruiting section in my absence. :)

Thanks Nexus, and boy are we glad you are back!

I find that subscribing to that thread is helpful. You get notifications on every reply. Otherwise I don't think I would check it often enough!

That's a good idea.

I created this thread and pinned it in the 2014 section awhile back, thinking it would help those who wanted to create profiles. Not sure how effective its been, but it's there nonetheless.

Regarding nebraskafaninwi's request to be "disassociated" with his Texas trouble thread:

We can actually do what he's requesting. It would require splitting the thread, and the easiest way to do that would be to check his OP in the thread and go down to the Mod Tools on the bottom and choose "Split Topic." You could move his OP to the Junkyard (for example) and the #2 post in the thread would become the OP.

I don't think that's necessary, or something we should be doing, but I wanted to explain that if anyone didn't know.
