Need Feedback on Thread

Apologies for my busy-ness in recent weeks. I got an email complaint (from someone who isn't a member of this board, to my knowledge) just now about a thread that was posted recently:

http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/53373-do-you-like-he-saidshe-said-reports-from-camp/

that information is a rip-off directly from another site, and that isn't going to sit well with the folks who own the site. I know without a single doubt that he isn't the genesis of that, and sharing that information isn't in the spirit of why it was shared in the first place.
What should be done? I'm inclined to respect the request for a takedown of content that is supposed to be private, rather than shared. The 'other site' being referred to is I believe, not a public board like this one where all the information is out there anyway.

I think we need more information. What site? Is it a pay site? I'm assuming the person is not the owner. We'll certainly remove if it's from a paid site. If it's a non-pay site, we usually ask that the owner of the site contact us.

Frank, didn't HuskerIllustrated contact us a year or so ago on something like this and Chad basically told him he needs to regulate his own members and not have them take info and bring it here?

But as you said, we will take down anything if someone with credibility requests it.

That's what I recall. If it was from a pay site (I'm thinking commercial site such as ESPN or something like that) we can easily verify and then pull the information. But for other sites, we ask them to contact us. If they can prove or asset a copyright, we'd pull it, otherwise, it's something that the owner needs to handle with the memebers. We can't independently determine if something is subject to copyright, so the owner needs to take some responsibility and assert it to us.

Great stuff Frank and a great reminder to all of us how to handle these situations. Many times these situations are handled very easily. Don't panic, just bring it here.

If you are ever contacted by an outside site, be very polite and bring it to this forum. Let this person know we will look at it ASAP and will be very happy to work with them. This is where I need to mention we fell a$$ backwards into lawyer sh#t with Frank joining the board. He knows this stuff inside and out and is an absolute asset to this board when issues like this come up. Now if he would stop being so god damn stubborn and take our offer to attend a home football game on us that would be uber amazing. :corndance
