Netflix & streaming video stuff worth watching

Yeah, Sheela is a lying, manipulative little B. Early on I kind of felt sorry for her/them and then I figured out she would say anything to justify her actions.
Ya. I go back and forth. I think they were all crazy but the Government was out to get them before they even did anything... The city tried to play tough and so they outsmarted them and then it created this giant battle.

I get you cant just let a cult move in and do whatever they want but if they just left them be it probably wouldnt have escalated.

Please don't put spoilers in this thread or it'll ruin whatever shows are being suggested. (Or at least put them in a spoiler box.)

You know, I had never sat down and watched an episode of "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" before.  Oh sure, I may have caught a few minutes here and there as I was grazing the channels.  But I've never seen an episode end to end.  Until tonight.  How could I not have appreciated this before?  It's great!  And seeing him on the show makes me all the more sad about Bourdain's untimely death.

Sorry, I would’ve considered spoiler tags for my post if it was for some unknown thing rather than factual historical events which actually occurred and have been in the public domain for many many years now.  :P

I agree with you on a basis of principle but, in reality, I’m all for whatever and however the government and people tried to shut them down. It seems to be one of those rare exceptions to the rule. jmo

I've watched his interviews on YouTube. It's very easy to see how this is true: "Released at the age of 21 after convincing psychiatrists he was rehabilitated, Kemper was regarded as non-threatening by his victims." So I'm not sure he's creepy except that we know what he did and he talks about it candidly.

Watched Kodachrome on Netflix. It was pretty good. Typical dysfunctional relationship resolves itself on a road trip requested by a dying man, but well done. Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis are good in it. Would recommend.

For those that might have missed it when it first came out, House Of Lies is now streaming on Amazon Prime after originally airing on Showtime.  It's got Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell and Jean Ralphio from Parks & Rec playing management consultants in the vain of Booz Hamilton and McKinsley.  It's irreverent, sarcastic, kinda dark and extremely vulgar at times.  I personally really enjoyed it.

Trying to get caught up on my Marvel universe viewing so watched Doctor Strange and Avengers Civil War this weekend (both on Netflix). Liked both of them a lot, and now I understand who Black Panther is. Still have to see Black Panther, Age of Ultron and Thor Ragnarok but then I should be ready for Infinity War.

Also have been watching The Expanse on Amazon Prime. I think it's a great futuristic sci-fi series and definitely recommend it if that genre appeals to you.

A few things I’ve watched lately.

Safe (Netflix) starring Michael C. Hall (Dexter). I liked it. Fairly short binge that holds your interest well. Very similar to Broadchurch and Black Mirror. Obviously made by many of the same people with the same formula. Downside is they all kind of do it the same way, cast aspersions on a new character every episode then clear them and move on to the next suspect. It’s very entertaining but you end up feeling used by the end.

American Made (HBO) starring Tom Cruise. I avoided seeing this sooner because I’m not a TC fan but I loved this movie. Predominantly true story juiced up to make it even more interesting. It is unbelievable what  Barry Seal did and was empowered to do by the CIA and DEA.  Noriega, Sandinistas, freedom fighters, Iran Contra, Ollie North, Pablo Escobar and the Medellín cartel, Reagan, drug and gun running.... Un Be Lieveable but true story. I did a little research to check it and most everything in the movie actually happened. The only completely made up part involved his wife’s derelict brother and they left out some stuff that should’ve been included to tell the whole story but you absolutely have to see it if you haven’t already.

It (HBO) Stephen King remake. Was not impressed. They relied on cheap scares and creepy Pennywise clown but forgot to tell the story. Honestly if you hadn’t seen the original you would be fairly lost for most of it. I’d skip it.

Oh, almost forgot. Also went to Incredibles 2 at the theatre. Excellent, almost as good as the original, just a small notch below but The Incredibles is one of my favorite animated movies. Can’t go wrong if you choose to see this one.

I can highly recommend Wild Wild Country. I faintly knew a bit about this deal but it’s just crazy what exactly went on.  It’s worth a watch. IIRC the first segment moves a bit slow but once you get through the first hour it gets easier.

I highly recommend this documentary.   I like real story Netflix's docuseries.

Brief plot: In 1981, cult purchased acres after acres in remote Oregon to build a perfect town ..... seven thousand people!  However, conflict with the locals, multiple lawsuits, a federal investigation, attempted murder and the largest bio-terrorism attack in U.S. history.  I never heard about this news until Wild Wild Country series.  Again, not fiction at all but real story.

I will start watching it this week.

I had heard good things but these comments pushed me over the edge.

I watched the first 10 minutes or so of Mindhunter over the weekend. Definitely going to watch the rest

Will be interested to hear your thoughts after the finale. We got really into it based on the first 10 minutes and, by the time we reached mid-season, we struggled to maintain interest.

Still not sure how I feel about this second season:

My fiancée was really into the first one and I kept tagging along, but I'm not really sure what a second season is going to offer. Even she's hesitant to start it up.
