New DC

I’ve generally drank all the Kool-Aid during the last six or seven years regarding coaching hires and have been disappointed with the results. I’m underwhelmed here, so maybe that’s a good sign! GBR!

This is underwhelming to me. The last few times I have felt disappointed with most recent first

1. Rhule offensive assistants when he was hired

2. All of Scott Frost assistants

3. Mike Riley

I'm not going to pretend I have an opinion on Butler as a DC.  I have a lot of respect for McDermott and Frazier as coaches & they chose him to coach their respected position group.  That speaks volumes in coaching.  I just want to see a more disruptive approach & stickier coverage.

We have no choice but to hope Rhule has this right and he trusts Snow.  Whether his presence is as a 3-3-5 mentor, sounding board, or insurance policy, that has to be a positive.

Bradden is an interesting hire.  There's a lot to like, but his background as a player was as a QB.  This occurs a lot in the NFL and it's less an issue when you spend your time coaching professionals scheme & gameplan.  Does he have the technical chops to coach technique to a very young and inexperienced room?  Because if the Blackshirts have McGuire lead caliber deficiencies in the D-Line room, nothing behind matters.

"Hey <insert stud transfer portal or HS defensive player>, want to play in the NFL?  We can get you there."

Butler - 10 years NFL coaching experience

Snow - 8 years NFL coaching experience

Bradden - 8 years NFL coaching experience
When you put to paper like this, I like these hires. Since CFB is essentially the NFL now, the ability to build long term relationships is not required

Obviously someone fell through or why not just announce butler originally..??
That was my thought initially, but does the university still have that silly rule that even football coordinator positions must be posted publicly for a period of time before they’re filled? Maybe that explains it and it was always going to be Butler.  They just had to go through the formal process.
