New DC

Can we just hire Nick Saban as a hiring consultant and let him pick the staff for Rhule
I would just challenge Nick Saban and tell him there is no way he has what it takes to fix the Huskers. Hopefully he bites and he can consult his way into the HC position. I know… I know…one can only dream… at this point, dreaming is all we have.

Give me #2 if I gotta pick off that list. I want experienced dude from Sec and Big10 so you know he can handle the top tier of college football. A guy proven to go against the top OCs and still succeed.

He wasn’t with the Broncos the last 2 seasons.

Jameis up to 450 and 4 with 9:00 to play

Ok the pass defense for this season is top 5 going into tonights game. And the Broncos also had two pick sixs which you failed to mention.

Regardless, we have an opening for a BIG DC which is something he has already proven to excel at.  From 2017 to 2022 his defense finished in the top 20 in all but one season including a couple top 5 finishes.

I’m just speculating on Leonhard but I’d think he’d know our geography. Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa, the Dakotas, I think he’d be a good recruiter in the region and weaken our opponents. Anyone know how he did as a recruiter?  That’s a differentiator.  I want a big time recruiter.  What are Butler’s chops in this regard?

I agree he would do well in the region. Often coordinators are not necessarily the top recruiters but they need to hire guys who are great recruiters.

From 2017 to 2022, Nebraska had higher team recruiting rankings than Wisconsin (except 1) yet Leonhards defense ranked higher. I want a DC thats gets more out of the players than less.

I heard a name being thrown out there Elijah Robinson from Syracuse.  Great recruiter if your wanting that in a defensive coordinator and was Matt Rhule's defensive line coach at Temple.  He developed Haason Reddick into a star.
