White is one of 51 assistant coaches nominated for the Broyles Award, which honors the best college football assistants in the country. Nominees are selected by the Football Writers Association of America, broadcasters, a committee of college football hall-of-fame members and current collegiate head coaches.

The same 43-person group will select 15 semifinalists, five finalists and one winner.

White is in his third season coaching the Orange defense. Under his leadership, the group has become one of the top defenses in the country, currently ranking No. 18 in total defense in the NCAA.

I’ve had some questions about some of the hires but I really like this one. Seems like a really promising hire. Dino Babers is offense through and through so you know this guy’s defensive unit is all his.

Anyone that cut their teeth under Rocky Long is good in my book. Dude flat out knows defense.

What is the connection between White and Rhule? Have the worked together in the past. Rhule has said he only wants to work with guys he knows and trusts.
