New Husker Video Forum

Team HuskerBoard
Pretty sure mods/admins can see it, but no one else. Don't worry Adam, good teaser!

I would like to get your opinions on the look so far. As of now this is what we have

http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/forum/177-husker-videos/ as far as subforums go.

Questions

  1. The first subforum is only for Husker football games, both full, edited, and highlights. Should we place all full/partial games and their accompanying highlight video in the same thread? Like this one: http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/topic/75088-2014-miami/
  2. In the second subforum, should we created sections with years in it as we did in the Husker football video forum (first one)?
  3. Do we need a section for strictly fan videos? With the ease in which people can capture video nowadays, i wonder if it needs it's own subforum. Thoughts?

I think the video section is a nice touch, Now when I set here at work I can crank on a Husker tunnel walk video, run down the hallway knocking over cubicles, water coolers, and throwing da bones in my supervisors face!

I have obviously been poking around in the new forum. Very cool. I am a little intrigued/concerned about the kind of posts that will end up in the "Fan" thread. We may think about requiring mod preview before posts are approved as a form of quality control.

To address a number of points at one time:

1. I think, initially, we should have both full and partial games together, but I like the idea of having a subforum for highlight videos (best of the year kind of things, defensive highlights, offense highlights, etc.).

2. Probably not needed yet, but if we can get enough Tunnel Walk videos going, then we can create a subform by year for those.

3. I'm thinking that fan videos probably don't need a separate section - I think we wait and see whether we get enough submissions.

4. We can disable uploading for that forum and subforums. This would mean that we don't have to worry about someone posting copyright material and having it actually hosted by Huskerboard. And that would mean that any fan videos would have to be uploaded to YouTube or another site, which might help. Thoughts on this?

I wouldn't worry too much. If we get cursing, nudity, etc. the members are pretty good at reporting it. We can also put a disclaimer about the nature of videos.

So, I've started uploading. I see that you have breakouts for each season. Do you want me to post them in there? How many videos can be linked in a post? I've got about half of 2008, and almost every game from 2009-2014.

Post them in each seasons thread. Simply go to the bottom of the seasons thread, copy and paste link from you tube and reply. I think only 2 videos can fit in each reply.

Sounds good, I just posted pinned threads of each season when I thought we were going to have a few videos for that specific year, decade, etc.

I'm not sure what the best format is.

I started putting the year in the thread title but then realized part way through that it would be better to Tag the season the game is associated with so that you could click on the tag and find all games from that season. I don't think there'll be a lot of discussion but for the few games that do generate some discussion, it would be nicer for each game to have it's own thread. Plus, if you wanted to bump threads more would show up as having new content.

If we're going to have each season in its own thread, I don't know that we need to have the sub-forums dividing up the decades. You could have each of the previous 50 years with their own thread and still all be showing up on the first page. We could always keep the last 2-3 (or whatever) years pinned at the top so they'd be easy to find. I think it would keep people around longer if they can see all years at once instead of always having to keep switching sub-forums.

Just my $0.02

After doing some work on the threads, I think EtR was right that each season should have it's own thread. Working on merging the rest now.

I'm still not sure we need the separate decade sub-forums. The actual videos get buried pretty deep.

My vision wasn't necessarily replies, just a place our members could coZy up to and have a few beers while watching the past.

Alone today I watched parts of 97 Mizz, Project Husker and 95 ASU

Another option would be to get rid of the "Husker Football" sub-forum and make "Husker Football - 2010s", etc. a direct sub-forum of Husker Videos.
