New Members Brooks Hatlen, Tearfrogs and Devman

I think they're largely here to grief us. That's OK. Don't combat them, since as Eric pointed out, they feed off that anyway.

The things some of these guys do are quite childish -- messages to the twitter account, emails, other little amusements I'm sure AR would like to share.

But at the end of the day, the same standard applies to any other banned member who might return under a different name. If we find out and they're causing problems, ban 'em. If they're really not...well, OK. If a few of these guys who left in such a huff find they can't truly stay away and come back here to actually take part in the community once in a while, that's OK with me. Going on a +1 spree with each other or criticizing how the board is run in the 'Shed or in Board Feedback, that's OK too. It's always their right.

I gave Brooks Hatlen a +1 just now. Whoever he is, maybe he'll turn out alright!

Agree 100%. Here's the main thing - so long as they behave, fine. For the most part, they've confined themselves to the Woodshed for this antics, and anything outside the Woodshed (with the exception of a status update, as I recall) have been innocuous. So, it's a win-win for us. We can keep track of them rather than playing whack-a-mole.

By the way, for your laught of the day, I decided to have a little fun. As you know, they tried to promote their site on our board. Of course, we removed it. But I also decided to set it up so that typing in their site name changes it to Huskerboard.

Here's the funny part. Apparently, they've tried to post under one of their sock accounts to notify everyone about their site. They must have deleted those attempts, because on there site Polo notes that it's a "neat trick" how "every time you type in" their name "it changes it to Huskerboard." Again, this came after the attempt to post it through a sock status update.

I'm all for leaving them be; but I'll be damned if we'll make it easy for them to use our site to advertise.

Ha ha! I wondered what that meant. Nice!

Check out new membership. In the offseason we will average maybe 1 new member a day. Clearly there is a spike in the past four days.

There heeeeeeerrrrrreeeeeee!
Hey, sorry, I took down the link. DaveH obscured the location of the adminCP directly so I guess it makes sense we'd try to keep that link off any area in the board posts -- it can only be served via the template code to those who have access. Screenshot next time?

I don't know how big a deal this is, just thought we'd play it safe.

Sounds good....tried a screen shot but it was too large.

Thanks for the help.

I was just going to star out the word "butthurt" but now I'm intrigued....could we change that to "daisies" or "Big Mac" or "love muffin"?????

Oh gosh, no. Let's keep the moderating hand as light as possible. No reason to censor a word. As we've always said, it was not the word that was ever a problem.
Agreed. Certain posters liked to use it so they could get around the "attack the poster" rule. Sometimes, it's a perfect descriptor ala the SEC coaches being butthurt over satellite camps.

So...I know this stuff has only been confined to the woodshed, but there's going to be zero tolerance the minute they step foot and flame in the other sub-forums, right? Also, do they have PM privileges? I'd hate for them to be creating new accounts to PM assault certain users.
