New Staff Selection

And who's the assistant at Oklahoma that did an in home with Stoops and early that morning was texting a recruit in LA for USC?   Just because MJ is still doing his job, doesn't mean he isn't considering Frost offers.  He's still employed at LSU and has requirements there and he will do them until the time comes to switch hats.
And that is landing that coach in a world of trouble with the NCAA lol.

Reading this thread makes me wonder how some people handle stress in their own lives.
Like Frost handles playcalling, poorly.

Raiola is the Bears assistant OL coach, not their OL coach (that's Juan Castillo), so I am not sure how much credit/blame he has towards their line this year.

If you are hiring Raiola know that he has never really recruited before.  He's been an intern at Hawaii in 2014, grad asst at Notre Dame in 2015-16, and OL coach at Aurora University (D-3) in 2017.

I'm starting to think a lot of people take their real-life issues out on the team/coaches/etc. here on HB. I guess you can only whisper-scream in your basement so much lol

If we are hiring Raiola, know that his nephew is one of, if not the best QB in the upcoming class and if hiring helps us get him, he gets a pass or two on the recruiting trail.

It's also possible we are targeting an NFL guy for special teams coordinator.

My point is, he still is employed by LSU and has a job to do, just because he's doing an in home doesn't mean he isn't coming.  It just means nothing has been finalized and he's still working.   Much like the guy at Oklahoma, he did an in home, doesn't mean he was staying.

The point is we havent had a WR coach since what? 11/8? We need that paper signed last Sunday.

Brian Kelly was first contacted by LSU like 48 hours before he was announced. Not quite the same.

but man how badly has Frost f#&%ed this? We’re gonna get Jake Peetz and go 1-11
Really,   your assumption.  No good oc is going to commit to the same job with all the hc openings.  It's a crazy year for changes.  Secondly, Mickey is from Louisiana and until Kelly hires an oc, his job there is up in the air.  Ethical coaches will continue to do there job.

I'm a bears fan (I know, glutton for punishment) and this guy has turned chicken s@!t into chicken salad.  They're trotting out an LT who is 39 and was fishing when the season started, a LG who was a center (he's solid), an UDFA C who spot started at notre dame, a RG who was a center in college (he's solid), a RT who is a rookie 5th round pick that clearly wasn't ready but was forced into action.

And if you can believe it, their backups aren't good either...aside from Jenkins from okie state...but he's just back from injury and hasn't played.

This guy can coach and improve the oline.   It was a dumpster fire throwing and rushing early.  Now its damn good running and adequate passing...

Their problem is crap playcalling now, not offensive line play.  He'd be a great hire
I think he would be a solid hire. I’m still hoping for Garrison. He’s proven he can coach in college and has experience in recruiting.

This guy could have some credibility with recruits because if NFL experience. He would also bring the Wisconsin O line attitude.

We do, but MJ has to see if BK wants him, cause he'd much rather stay there if he can.   Either we hold until he knows his situation or we move on to our second choice.   But everything I read, he's our #1 choice.

That goes both ways.  We are seeing coaches recruit for one school when they know they are leaving, and basically are lying to recruits/parents faces.  Ethical coaches would cancel those visits and not feed lines to people when they know they aren't true.

So we wait, Mickey stays and then our 2nd and 3rd choices are already gone and we hire Troy Walters to be our WR coach.

Nick Saban had a losing record in the NFL.  Urban Meyer is overseeing a bad Jaguar team.

I'm not saying Riaola would be a great hire.  But I do think it's kind of silly to compare NFL rankings and assume it would transfer directly to the NCAA.  There is a lot more that goes into it that I hope Frost and Co. are looking into.

What's the selling point supposed to be?  His one year as an offensive line coach at a division 3 school?

I don't see it.

I know it's just an interview but man.

Sounds like you need a hug…. New here?!?  Assumptions are often times mistaken for facts.  Just because you see korn and MJ recruiting for the teams currently paying them to coach…. Doesn’t mean they’ll stay there. They are recruited to recruit or they’d be in Breech of contract regardless of their plans
