@ Nexus - question about the Recruiting forums/threads

Nexus, I barely ever poke my head into Recruiting, so can you give me an idea how Hedley Lamarr conducts himself there? Is he causing problems?

Are there any other folks who are disrupting the forum or derailing threads? Anyone we need to keep an eye on?

Also, do you have the power to ban people? I'm not sure what abilities you were granted when you were hired. :D

 
Truthfully, I don't scour the threads as deep as I used to so I can't comment on specific users posting habits. Time doesn't allow me to hang around HB as much these days. I'll briefly skim a handful of posts here and there, but mostly I'm making sure profiles are in a neat format and new threads are where they need to be.

From what I can tell, Hedley is Hedley. Whatever that means? :P He appears to have more detractors than allies and that seems to suit him just fine. He keeps coming back to HB to post, so he must have thick skin? He seems like your average pessimist when it comes to Husker football. That's just my limited perception of him anyway.

 
I think Nexus has all the mod abilities in all forums, which includes banning abilities. It's just not advertised (was that by request? can't remember). So he's our silent guardian. A watchful protector. The Dark Knight. :P

If you look at the "Mod Team" Nexus is listed as a Mod for certain forums, so people could know this if they wanted to check. I think most don't care, and there's the fact that zoogies, BRI and I are usually easy to find around the forums.

As for Hedley, I'm kinda keeping an eye on him. I asked about him in relation to the Recruiting forums because I don't go there, it's a big draw for the board, and we can't have people mucking about in there. So thanks for the 411. I'll try to keep a weather eye on those forums from time to time.

 
For what it's worth in my limited exposure, it seems that no matter what Hedley posts, he gets clobbered. Honestly, since we asked him to clean up his act after he joined, I can't say I've seen anything by him that's been any worse than anyone else. But we have a few members that can't seem to let go of how Hedley acted when he first joined.

Now, having said that, I don't hit the Recruiting forums much - but, again, I can't recall anything by Hedley that was any more out of line than anyone else.

 
I'm concerned about that, Frank. The guy is a bit weird, and I don't think he's shying away from confrontation at all, and he did bring a lot of the badness on himself when he first joined, BUT, you're right - a lot of guys just can't let it go.

I'm torn on this guy. Part of me says it's better to just part ways. Part of me says he's getting shafted. Part of me says he continues to egg these guys on.

The threads he starts/participates in get a LOT of traffic. He's entertaining the masses to a degree, and that is part of the equation.

 
Perhaps I've missed it, but what I haven't seen is anything that even remotely resembles trolling. Take the vegan thread - he asked if there were other vegans on the board...and immediately caught flack. But he didn't strike back. Now, admittedly, he does in the Woodshed - but that's the appropriate place. And he's damn good at coming up with come-backs that irritate the crap out of his attackers.

Actually, I find the guy kinda funny and witty. And he sure is keeping the Board active now that we're in the silly season.
