NU's Coastal Recruiting Push Showing

So you can name one career bench warmer and a bunch of guys who havent dont anything past college, though I still hold out hope for Herian. How many quarterbacks and wide receivers are from California??? How many from Florida??? Are you saying that we should ignore more talented players from a more talent rich area, just because they arent Nebraskans??? That doesnt make much sense to me. I say recruit the most talented guys you can. It is proven that there is more and better talent in these areas. The state of Nebraska supports ONE division one team. Texas, California, and Florida support multiple team, many of which contend for titles.

All I am saying is dont discredit NE kids, just because they are from NE, and some "recruiting expert" doesnt have them rated highly.

These kids have done well for the Univ in the past and there is no reason why they still couldnt contribute. Or are saying that they cant???

No, I am all for a good walk on program and giving the best kids in the state schollies to come here, Im just not for taking 10 or eleven guys from the state, giving them one of our 85 schollies, just because they are from nebraska. Nebraska produces maybe 4 or 5 guys a year who will start in DI, and only about 2 or 3 that should start at Nebraska under the current system. We should give schollies to those 2 or 3 or maybe even 4 guys, and allow the other 6 or 7 guys to walk on if they want to instead of giving them scholarships when there are more qualified athletes out there. If they come in an work hard, Callahan has allready shown that he is perfectly willing to give them scholarships, so I dont see what the problem with having more out of state kids is?

I think this is being done currently. One of the problems with drawing from the state's talent pool right now is that very few high schools are using passing offenses that would be conducive to developing skill players such as wr's and qb's to come to Nebraska. Some of Callahan's favorite players are Nebraska boys, and not even the ones that were highly sought after. Shanle, Kadavy, Ickes, Tiedtke, the list goes on and on. I think Callahan knows how important homegrown players are for this team and if you look at him giving scholarships to former walk-ons, they are all Nebraska kids, except Mulkey, 6 of them I believe. And once Franklin and Hunter didn't qualify, he put Souder on scholarship for this year. Nebraska kids can and will still be a huge part of this program!

Well, Frankie recruited primarily out of the State of Nebraska and less everywhere else.. and it eventually led to his firing.
