Is Iowa a Rivalry for Nebraska?

The Iowa-Nebraska rivalry is enticing, and the Big Ten Network wants to be a part of it


IOWA CITY, Iowa – The final Black Friday game between Iowa and Nebraska before a two-year post-Thanksgiving hiatus will air mid-afternoon Nov. 29 on BTN.

The kickoff time, while unusual at 1:30 p.m. CT, is an intriguing footnote. The network choice, however, has triggered vocal scrutiny from the two Big Ten fan bases.

BTN usually is associated with the Big Ten’s least-appealing games, so a Black Friday battle not airing on ABC or FOX instantly invites criticism of both teams and the league itself. In this case, however, BTN targeted Iowa-Nebraska and fought for it.

Whoa, that’s bad news.  BTN might be available nationwide but not many outside of B1G probably get it by default.  We need to stop being bad at football.

Yep. I'm a little more confused about Gabrielle Union, if that's who the lower right is. I know she's a Nebraska fan (alum?), but a weird inclusion.

Also "a rivalry like no other" is pretty bold at this point. The biggest point of tension I can recall is that Iowa band member claiming our players didn't participate in the children's hospital wave. Wherever you place Iowa/Nebraska personally on a rivalry scale, it does not stand out in any way.

I think Gabrielle Union’s face has been on one of the placards the football team uses for play calls. I think maybe it’s supposed to look like one.

I was not aware that the black friday game had been dropped from a national game. That sucks because we usually are in Laughlin or Vegas for the the holiday weekend, and they don't carry the BTN, in the casino's we have stayed at. I could always count on watching it on the one of the main channels. 

Of course it may not matter in the future, as it may get back to being a one sided game by the time the two years are done on the BTN,  so ABC or FOX probably won't want to pick it up anyway.

Could always stream it if you have that option

 
BTN is better for me. When they play it on Fox half the time it says streaming isn't available in my area. It's streaming and I'm using a TV service based in Nebraska, how is that possible!? Anywho, never have that problem with BTN games.

Had that problem with NBCsports, turned out I just needed to update
