Nah - motherboard's capacitors crapped out. Can't get it to even post. Not surprised - the motherboard is probably 5 or 6 years old. I've been kind of expecting this to happen. The only issue now is whether to buy a complete system, or order a motherboard, processor, heat sink and memory, and use the other components I have. I think I'm going to do both - that way, I can re-purpose my current box as a new server. I'm looking at a Dell (which I normally don't like much) to get a quad-core processor and a nVidia 8800 GTX card, among other goodies. My wife is pushing that way, anyway, bless her heart.
Yeah, from the specs and the reviews, the 8800 Ultra not worth it. More then $300 higher than the GTX, but not real appreciable increase in frame rates or other benefits, and it's noisier as I understand it.That 8800gtx is a great card just wish the price would have dropped more by now. Not enough competition to make that happen. I'm going to rebuild one of my old cases with a q6600 and asus mobo just for the heck.
I have had great luck with newegg and since there is a warehouse about 80 miles away.
