I pray we get lucky and make a bowl. Seniors deserve it.
Serious question. Not being a smart a$$. Why do they deserve a bowl game? Because they've been here 4 years? Because why?
I hate to be hard on them but they haven't earned and don't deserve anything. A lot of that is on the coaches but a lot of it is on unmotivated play of the players. Sorry but I don't want to see this edition of the Huskers on the field again. We need to concentrate on getting a better version on the field next year. Much better.
So many people on HB laughed and scoffed when, in seasons past, a 5-7 team made it to a bowl game. Some were pissed. Now that WE are the 5-7 team, it's a great idea to go to a bowl game. My vote is no. We didn't earn it.
Everyone needs to get past whether it is earned or not, what really matters is what is best for the team to make 2016 better. Reality is that going to a bowl game allows the team 15 additional practices, which is the same a Spring Ball. That is huge, so get over the other aspects and get on board for a 5-7 team going to a bowl game.
I'd say that the less time this staff has to poison the players, the better.
It has more to do with TA being legally retarded at the QB position than it does with any of the coaches. I hope we never see that guy as the starter at NU ever again. He leads that nation in turnovers and has personally lost 5 of the 7 games (Purdue and Miami were not his fault) this year. If you want to try to say it was on the coaches then you are just lazy and ignorant. Which is par for the course with your legally retarded posts.

I will say I am disappointed in some of the "football smarts" of our team. Sometimes I think they should play a little more Madden.

It is part of the culture of getting rid of Little Bo Bleep's leftovers. Hopefully O'Brien is the real deal and we won't have to worry about our QB losing 5 games a year for us anymore.

Nice personal attack. But since you are claiming to be so much smarter than I and by proxy many others, can you explain what the coaches are getting 6 and 7 digit salaries for. Surely not for just tossing the balls out there and saying "go get 'em, boys!"

On second thought, seeing the clown show that is this staff, that would have probably at least got us a winning season.

I would explain it but you are not smart enough to understand it. You just want them to run a fullback trap 75 times a game and that is going to get our asses kicked. Hell I saw you bitching after our FIRST pass play that was intercepted due to TA's legally retarded decsion making when the run pass ratio was 6-1. You are the type that will b!^@h and complain no matter what as long as TO didn't bless the hiring of the HC. When the truth is that TO was HORRIBLE in picking HC's. He did more good for the basketball program as AD than he did the football program.

The coaches are getting paid that to fix the weak minded culture that Bo's POS a$$ left us. It isn't easy nor fast to fix what he left us. Hopefully we get rid of the Bolievers that are left and move forward with those that care about wining games at NU.

If you want to watch a clown show, then watch Frank and Bo put us in the shitter that we are now.

Greeting Huskerboarders,

My time has been cut short at this destination for multiple reasons, but majorly my own. I'm not a person that enjoys a ban from the mods here at HB, BTW they are pretty good people, you should stop forcing their hands. Unfortunately, I'm a person that will always be at odds with them because of the way many of you post about the big red machine.

I'm a person that is easy to get along with, just ask Redux. I'm a person that is undying and a never give up type of breed. I'm a man that never throws in the towel and always gives our players the benefit of the doubt. I'm a person that will go to hell and back to defend this fan base, these players and this program.

Unfortunately, it's become very clear lately that there are many fans that do not show the same appreciation as I for the program over the past few months. I used to believe that I was a man that could change the minds of many with only a few words. Actually, that is true, but I have been very unlucky in doing so at HB. I haven't been able to do what I feel is the right thing to do here, so therefore, I'm withdrawing my posts from here no out. Every time I've stuck my neck out for this program, I've been punched in the gut, figuratively.

I want so bad for this program to be successful, that I've decided to step away. I feel that i'm going to be greater for this program in a difference capacity than I am here. As I type this post 20 beers deep, I plan to peruse this site occaisionally, but I'm moving to a new location. In the end, I just feel I can't cooperate with certain posters here and in the end, this is for the best.

Hey, if some of you look back a year ago, this is probably for the best! I love Husker Nation and hopefully we'll see you all in a bowl game!

#GBR!

I don't see any changes forthcoming, at least not from Riley. The only way any changes will be made is if a coach accepts another position at a different school and Riley is forced to find a replacement.
Is your very reliable source your butthole? Because it seems you just pull sh#t out of your a$$. At least the sock puppet is entertaining when he's wrong.

This thread should be locked. It's the same ol sh#t, different day. Nothing going to sway either group's minds. It's just mindless arguing at this point...

But here is my reasoning:

Bo is gone. He isn't coming back. You can disagree with the hire all you want, but you have zero control over those decisions. I'm a husker fan and a husker supporter. I am skeptical of the Mike Riley hire, but any person in this position deserves time. No one was going to come into this program and during year zero, turn it it into a top 5 football team.

If 4 years from now, Mike Riley is still producing 6 loss seasons, he will be gone. And we can argue about why the next coach was a foolish hire.
If 4 years from now, HE is still producing 6 loss seasons, NU will be beyond irrelevant and will never return.
Another moron. Last I checked, Iowa has never been relevant ever, and they have a good chance making the playoff this year. Try again dipsh*t.

If you think Riley is going to try "something new" at age 63, you are sorely mistaken. He has been coaching this offense for 30 years, he's not going to do anything differently now.
this offense is not the same as it was thirty years ago. It has changed and evolved like everything else in the sport. Its comments like this that show how stupid you are and how little you know about the game that takes credibility from boards like this. Boards that used to be enjoyable before it was overridden by a bunch of idiotic, overreacting entitled dips$&ts. Like you. Uts why crap like this isnt even worth arguing or discussing. Youre too stupid and too ignorant to understand anyway.

In relationship to the OP:

3. Does NU not have any QB behind TA that is even reasonably prepared to play in a Power 5 conference? If not Why?

- No, because Bo Pelini's roster management/recruitment was horrible and we're seeing the results of it. If Armstrong's an efficient QB, Nebraska nudges out Iowa for the nation's love this year. If given the option, I'd take an 80 percent healthy Armstrong over a completely healthy Fyfe (and this choice has been made).
Clueless post.

Two 4 star QBs and a 3 star along with a walkon who previously showed promise.

Give Riley and Langs Hackenburg, Cook or any other "game manager" and they are still going to produce their average seasons, just like they always have.

A coach who can't win with this roster is the problem, not the other way around.

Serious question here. If he didn't grow up or play for NEB would anyone seriously want to hire him for the NEB job?? I guess the real question is would half of you even know who he was if he was just the Oregon OC

This gets posed all the time, and frankly I think it's a dumb question.

Him being a Nebraska native that played here is part of his resume to look at as a potential head coach at Nebraska. He's a great coach in his own right, but him being a hometown boy that knows the culture, a former player that knows the program, and a good man that would embrace the values and the characteristics of the state are important.

Would Michigan have hired Brady Hoke if he wasn't a Michigan Man? Would Urban have jumped back into coaching for any job other than his homestate school? You don't think Bama will come calling to Dabo Swinney when Saban hangs it up? Would Pat Fitzgerald or Mike Gundy have essentially lifetime job security if they didn't play at NW or OSU respectively?
So a good reason for the Frank Solich hire is because he played here? Or to have Turner Gill here as a head coach. Would it be great to bring back the hometown kid who won a national championship?? Sure, but I don't need a hometown kid for me to feel better about the program. I just want the coach who is going to win here. He has ZERO head coaching experience this year and the last couple years he's called plays he had arguably the best QB in the NCAA. Let's see what he can do on his own before we crown him.
Lawrence, I didn't realize they gave you internet access in the hole, and are you still mad that Frosty started banging Kate McEwen after you and her broke up?

As jokes go, this was one probably best left unposted. If you're like me, you have a zinger all typed up and you re-read it, and sometimes you delete it before posting because it's just not as funny as you thought it was, or it's too far, or it isn't worth getting into a tangent for.

This was one I wish you hadn't hit "submit" on. It's in poor taste.

Not Husker related, but interesting none the less as it relates to big time programs and their coaching search. This writer says that going after Kirby Smart is a poor move for UGA and that they can and should do much better if they want to get their edge back. Says it's an unambitious hire. WTH. Kirby is unambitious how would Riley rank?

I'd love Kirby at NU. I can't imagine this being a low hire. Goes onto to say this at the end. Makes me think of NU's hire and that SE wasn't really concerned about winning.

But if thats the way it ends up a quick and easy hire that carries tremendous risk well know Georgia sees itself less as a competitor to Alabama and more of a wannabe. And well have to wonder whether it was really Richt who lost control.

There's another forum for these type of posts -> http://www.huskerboard.com/index.php?/forum/159-other-sports/
Screw that bs. Thanks Lo.

These post's never get seen in the "other sports" you get way more discussion in when it's in the main forum. Besides I was thinking the other day when Moiraine got pissy about the Herman topic...

Are you reading the other 30 topics that are listed on the front page of the husker forum, regularly posting in them? No, so who freaking cares. Move it after a while but damn, If I had posted that Herman article in the "other sports" forum, it doesn't get near the attention it's been getting. We got nothing else talk about anyway.
I didn't get "pissy," jacka$$. K, now I'm slightly pissy. But not really.
