Offense Isn't The Problem.

We're averaging 34.3 points a game.

Averaging 186.3 RYPG.

Averaging 286.3 PYPG.

Nearly 500 yards per game on offense.

I don't see why everybody puts the blame on BC. We're getting the job done on offense. Last year, he had one of the best recruiting classes in recent memory and next year's is looking even better. I understand that a lot of you are frustrated by not being a contender, but we didn't get into this hole overnight and we can't get out of it overnight either.

Give it time and be patient. It's not like any of us have enough say to get anyone fired anyways. All we can do is cheer on our squad and hope that they do well. It's just 1 game, folks.

We scored 10 pts against USC when the game mattered and only 20 against Wake. Your numbers are a bit skewed but you are definitely right that our offense is not the problem. We are not a great offense but the offense is the best part of our team right now and it is decent. I think with some better talent the offense could start to compete against top defenses and with a different play caller I think we could do better in adjustments when the game really counts. The system is a good one, our defense is the problem.

Numbers do look good for the most part....they don't lie

Did I miss something? When has this offense done anything against a good defense let alone a great one.

Look at Auburn and Nebraska the last two years they've run bascally the same offense

Auburns highest point total was 40 last year against Wash st 40-14 w

their 4 biggest games they scored Florida 27-17 w(If you look you would see 12 points came off of turnovers touchdowns) Arkansas 10-27 L

Georgia 15-37 L

Nebraska 17-14 W By the way this is the vaunted offense that NU great defense held to 17 look what their offense is doing this year.

Nebraska Highest point total last year Troy 56-0 W

Their 4 biggest games they scored USC 10-28 L

Texas 20- 22 L

Oklahoma 7-21 L

Auburn 14-17 L

USC 10-49

Why people call the option and power I out dated they should look and see that the West Coast offense has been around since the 80's and if it was such a great offense why wouldnt any of the top ten teams actually be running it? Oklahoma? Florida? USC? LSU?OHIO ST? West Virginia?( by the way they have a form of the option)

Another thing that hampers the West coast in Nebraska your never going to get the great receivers you need to they all tend to go to the teams where the climate is warm.

Have we even had a 5 star let alone a 4 star reciever even mention that he might come here?

Face it Nebraska threw away the baby with the baby water. They junked what they could do best when the real problem was the defense at the time. The problem now is that the defense has never gotten better and the offense isn't really helping.

People can take pride in the fianl score of the USC game if they want but it was 21 in the forth quarter meaningless points. by the way what was nebraska average per run for USC (1.1) and how many yards was added onto the passing in the forth when the game was out of reach and USC had a combnation of 1,2 and third string guys.

NU did pass for almost 400 yards on a Great USC Defense, and like you have said before their #2's and #3's could probably start almost anywhere

The offense is getting in position to where it needs to be, the biggest problems we have now are defensive adjustments, and linebackers who don't know how to tackle or stay home on a misdirection.

One falls on the DC, the other on the Linebackers coach... and guess what - it's the same guy. Hmm.

I wasn't sold on Elmo, but he is at least getting his guys ready to play and is doing well now that he has more than a three man rotation at corner. Safeties still need some work but are out of position less and are willing to come up and make a stop and we've seen some good improvement on special teams - outside of finding a consistent punt returner. . D-Line looked awful and Suh was getting manhandled out there last week, but I'm going to give Wyatt a pass on this one, the line is young and were up against a very strong, very deep opponent.

Until Coz and his pathetic Big 10 bend don't break, give the wideout a 15 yard cushion defense is gone we won't be a top 10 team again. No matter how many points the offense can put up.

Four star receivers? How about Chris Brooks? What about Maurice Purify? (I'm wondering on Mo. Almost positive Brooks was four star.)

As far as recruiting goes, 5-star Deion Walker did even so as "mention" that he may come here, since we're still in his list of schools.

A big problem, IMO, is the fact that we're Nebraska. Middle of the plains. We're not sitting on top a great big pool of talent (could be worse, we could be Missouri - sitting on top of talent, and STILL sucking :-P) We have to go to LA and Texas and across the country to get these kids. Pete Carroll picks and chooses his players, and sometimes "even" gets kids from outside his locality. Now that's breadth, huh?

Osborne and Devaney built a very unique and unlikely powerhouse here - to quote one of the articles leading up to the SC game. It fell apart in the Solich era, and now we're trying something else. We can still rest on the traditionn that was created, but we're going a different philosophy now, and Callahan's doing as good a job as can be expected in the recruiting dept. He's building a solid new foundation for us.

The defense put the offense in a horrible position. I thought the offense more or less held up it's end of the bargain, so to speak. NU passed more than they wanted, though.

I agree. The offense was put in a scoring match which they knew they couldn't keep up with. I applaud the effort of the offense still. Passing more than running may be where we are headed. I just can't help but shed a tear to see the running game so shamefully taught to NU.

I don't blame Billy C for the offense... I think it is doing great. My thing is he is the head coach and it at times it seems like we have two head coaches... Bill takes care of the offense and Coz the defense. Bill needs to get more involved in the defense and make sure they are progressing the way they need to. He has an offensive coordinator for a reason, sometimes I think he gets too involved in the offense and forgets that he isn't the offensive coordinator and that he is the head coach... he needs to have involvement in the defense as well.

Good point.

The offense did their job as I have said before the defense lost the game for us and it's all on them. I realize that we couldn't run very well, but the USC defense is one of the best. Look at how we passed on them. Receivers did a helluva good job. :worship
