***** Official Election Game Day Thread *****

Some weirdness in Wisconsin. I don't know how the vote tallies are estimated. Maybe they all use different algorithms. AP is saying 3MM votes have been counted and 97% votes are in. NYT is saying 2.87MM counted and 81% votes are in.

If 2,950,000 is 97% then there are 3,041,237 total.

If 2,FOx870,000 is 81% then there are 3,543,210 total.

That is a huge difference.
Fox says 93% reporting with a major urban dump to come at 5am eastern.

So that's why western states counted faster than the midwest.  The latter weren't experienced in it and held back their mail in votes.

Biden down by 4 and 12 points in Wisconsin and PA and 538 still think things look decent for him there.
lots of chatter with Wisconsin, except in football.  But they aren't saying much else tonight. (one FB friend won't concede AZ)

Back in 2000 I didn't hear any news until lunch time, and even then I saw a newspaper and assumed it had been printed before they called it for Bush.  I didn't realize what's happening until mid afternoon.

that's not possible today but I doubt I'll be back on HB until mid-afternoon.

In Nebraska, casino gambling overwhelmingly passed despite a strong conservative push. That's pretty impressive and a little surprising.

Now if they would just stop finding legal loopholes to keep marijuana off the ballot, we could settle that, too. I think I've signed four or five petitions to put it on the ballot now, but every time they find a sympathetic judge and get it kicked off due to a technicality.

Legalize it and tax it.

But, I guess, baby steps. I'll have to take them.

I think there are a LOT of surprised folks here at Huskerboard with how close it is.
Did people really think this was gonna be a runaway? I had confidence in a Biden victory but I always felt like it was going to be close

Also, I've been following politics since I was a teenager, and I swear I've never heard of the "Blue Wall." Saw it a few times already this morning, and apparently it refers to Wisconsin & Michigan? Is this a new thing?

I was shocked that it passed and last I saw it passed with ease.

Should have happened 15 years ago.

Ha!  Yes!  I think they are trying to come up with cool new phrases.

At least. How long have the casinos been across the river in Iowa? Should have happened right then.

I wonder if we'll ever know how much Nebraska money has flowed into the tax coffers of surrounding states.

I'm not a gambler and I'm not about to go to these casinos, but I do have a rudimentary grasp of economics and I want that money staying here. And I want tax money off the doobage we could sell if they'd put that on the damned ballot.

There were quite a few folks that thought it would be a landslide for Biden.

I was skeptical...because Biden isn't progressive enough (in my opinion) and thus wasn't really giving any message other than "I'm not Trump".

Could you name some of those folks? Because I must have missed those posts.
You should just have less faith in the polling numbers.  Those things suck.

The betting sites were what caught my interest.

I've seen some people say as of this morning it's now Biden -300. They must be pretty confident?

no...the people.   the fact that so many think trump is worthy of leading our country is disappointing.  if my daughter brought home aguy that has been accused of sexual assault, found guilty of fraud, and had 5 kids with 3 different wives (who he cheated on all of them)....i would beat the crap outta the guy and and tell my daughter to forget him?   but the american people think he is presidential.   i don't understand it.

AZ passed a 420 bill last night.

There is a significant portion of rural America that want's to "own the libs" more than they did 12-16 years ago.  My fear with the massive amounts of new voters was that many of them were people turned on to politics because of Trump.  There were many people that were disenfranchised with the whole thing and just happy to shoot guns and drink beer on the 4th of July.  When Trump tapped into that persona, I think they became a formidable voting bloc.

Social media hasn't helped...
