***** Official Election Game Day Thread *****

Followed by an attack of Steve Scalise at a baseball game in 2017. Also by a conspiracy nut.

Let's all agree that we can hope there is no repeat.

Mental illness has no party affiliation. We can't get caught in that trap.

But I do think the normalization of disturbed conspiracy theories only exacerbates the problem. People who are otherwise sane repeat some horrific manufactured fiction as fact, and for people walking the edge of mental health and suicidal ideation, it can be a dangerous call to action.

Question: if you have to leave Facebook or Twitter because you can't stand having facts get in the way of making outlandish claims...does this make you a snowflake?

And if you have a bunch of snowflakes leaving Facebook and Twitter for MAGABook and Parler, respectively, wouldn't you call that a flurry of activity?

And no, Parler isn't free speech--the racism and ignorance runs heavy and thick over there, and it's banning any "liberal" (read: rational, sane) voices reported to mods, as it has since June 2020: https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20200627/23551144803/as-predicted-parler-is-banning-users-it-doesnt-like.shtml

And we become even more polarized  as conservatives head towards group think within a 'safe' environment with like minded

and the liberals in  their group.  Somehow we have to engage and talk instead of pointing fingers, blame and then running to our safe place.

As the dust settles from the 2020 presidential election, one disappointed Mississippi legislator has a proposition for the Magnolia State. Instead of being governed by Biden, state Rep. Price Wallace (R) reportedly said on Twitter that Mississippi should “succeed” from the rest of the United States and form its own country.

Fine by me. They can stop sucking the fed's teat then.
