Defense is only one part of this.  Qb throwing interceptions is another issue.  Seems like to me that as soon as our QB threw that interception, our defense had a huge letdown.

If we ran the ball a little bit more, and left our defense on the sidelines more, it would help.  Ball control..........Our great teams did that.  With offenses being way ahead of defenses in most leagues, leave the other teams offense on the sidelines more!
Time of possession is an overrated stat in that it doesn’t always lead to wins. I haven’t seen the TOP for today, but NU did control the ball in the first half. That was skewed a bit due to the kickoff return for a TD.

But we had chances to keep pounding the rock and chose to run some pass plays.  We were gashing them the whole game, could have controlled it completely.  That interception changed the game in seconds, completely took the wind out of our sails.
Ok. You still have to try and mix it up occasionally. If you run it every time even a dc as inept as chin could figure out what your doing.

Pickering’s missed FG in the 3rd quarter forced Frost to go for it on 4th and 4 in the 4th when NU was down 13. If NU is within 10, we probably try to kick a FG to get within 7.

Eerily similar to the Purdue game......IMHO, Frost has got to figure out a way to grind yards if chunk plays are not there.  Reminds me a lot of the Wats/Beck/Langs O of big or bust.

Once you have them off balance you can mix it up some.  Wisky is winning 8-9 games per season by running the ball and using play action pass.    Not saying that you can't and shouldn't pass the ball, but when you can control the clock, control the line of scrimmage, you do those things and most of the time, your going to win the game.  We would take 9 wins per season right now wouldn't we?  TOP is still a factor in games.  KSU beat OU, time of possesion was almost 3 to one.  It matters.

Yes, but that’s also where talent comes into play, especially on the o-line and skill players being able to make a special play. For example, does Wandale score on the 4th down slip screen ran to Mazour at the end of the game? Very possible, there was only one guy to make miss.

Ok. You said the team passes more than it runs the ball and that isn't true.
