To which school will Jones commit?

I expect us to take multiple LBs no matter what.  I don't think they need to pressure him into committing.  If he wants in later, they will find room.  That's much easier now than it used to be.

They all get pressured in June and July. Nebraska would be foolish to not ask him after his 12th visit to campus or at least get some assurances on where they stand amongst the top 3. They'll keep recruiting him of course but I expect them to go hard on other MLB prospects in the summer.

To the bolded, I think that's pretty much the case with everyone.

There are marginal guys who can lose their spot in the class.  It happened to Caleb Pyfrom last year.

But guys at this level have always been "take them and figure out the numbers later."  And that's even more true now that scholarship limits don't mean anything close to what they used to.

In some cases it isn't though. Him being a local guy and a fan of Nebraska also makes this different. The reason I am even bringing this up is because I have seen many scenarios where a coach has to make the tough decision for a kid or light a fire underneath him to understand that it's a business. After so many visits and time, the question becomes, "do you truly know if you want to be here?" or simply "do you want to be here?" A lot of times that Q&A tells both what needs to happen. Regardless of answer, it doesn't mean we stop recruiting.

My read is that he's unsure of Nebraska because of the last 7 years but I am perplexed as to why USC or OU considering both are not good on D and heading to new conferences with a ton of question marks. (I live in LA so you don't have to use the sunshine and hot girls reason. I know.) So is it about relationships or wanting to leave the state? If it's about relationships, what are you waiting for? How many times do you need to see practice, your former teammates, DC, etc? But if you want to leave the state, that's fine and there's nothing wrong with that, but that comes with potentially being moved on from.

And for the scenario I laid out in the latter portion of the first paragraph, it happens the other way around every day in recruiting. Heck, some of our own players had to check the coaches and find out if they truly wanted them.

Also let me make this very clear: I don't know anything about CJ's recruitment. I want him in the class. I am just applying my knowledge and spitballing. I wish he would commit honestly because of peer recruiting and it would create nice momentum for this class on a regional and national level.

Grant Brix went deep into his recruitment last year at a position of need. Not a NE kid but pretty close. High level talent kids, regardless of where they are from,  you recruit the crap out of them. We might have to go deep into the process this year to get Loftin, Reiman, Pierce, and CJ but it will be worth it and it (along with winning) will go along way into winning future local kids.

Asking him to commit isn’t pressuring him. Telling him if he doesn’t commit, there might not be a place for him is another.

Visits set up here and at Oklahoma.  Likely taking a couple more visits - Tennessee, Texas A&M and Auburn in the mix.

Probably not deciding until fall.  Which might be good for us as he'd likely come back for a game or two.
