OT Christian Westerman

Westerman reminds me of Bo Williams. If anyone remembers him, he was the kid with 100+ offers (according to Bo) who was a RB prospect from Florida we recruited years back. If anyone remembers that kid, you also remember how in almost every update the kid would talk about his dad and how he was so much a fan of each school. Dad was basically a lifelong fan of every team in America. :)

Some kids are pretty liberal with what they say. Not a big deal, but sometimes you just have to see through alot of it.

Article from yesterday here.

The state of the USC/Michigan programs is definately having an impact. Whether or not it ultimately deters a top ranked prospect remains to be seen, but they are taking it into consideration.

I was stunned that something so simple as Saban sending Westerman's offer letter in a "certificate" form that can be printed out at Kinko's for 2 bucks had a big enough impact for them to mention it. Westermans probably got a 100 awards on his wall, what does he care. Guess it always comes down to the little things.

He said he liked talking to the coaches at USC, UT, and UF yeah... you're probably right that means it's down to those three but I'm clinging to the fact that he didn't mention any favorite schools really... plus Tyler Moore is supposedly recruiting him as well. Keep your fingers crossed.

AND...isn't he confirmed to go to the spring game? That is probably the best off-season recruiting tool anyone can use. When he sees how hyped up we all get over a glorified scrimmage, he won't be able to resist taking in a game. That's when we pounce! :nutz

If he commits early we are out,if he waits until January or later and we have a great season we may have a chance.Huskers may be done on the O line by then, we have at tops 2 O line men left to take

I think he's in the same status as Owa. If he wants to be N, we make room for him.

As for the ESPN article, I will wait to see his comments later. I think interviews can be taken out of context. Sure he mentioned the USC, UF and Texas, but maybe he was asked directly about those 3 schools. If so, then he was just answering a question and not necessarily discussing those 3 schools as his favorites.

I think hes pretty set on One of the Arizona schools, or Texas. But there is still alot of OL talent out there for Nebraska: Bobby Hart, Jacob Welter, Zach Sterup (depending on performances in camp, and evaluations), Derek Farniok, Cyrus Hobbi and some others. So even if we dont get CW, we will still have a great OL class.

So does this mean no visit? :dunno
He backed out of the visit yesterday saying he was attending his HS prom. But it appears that it was because he was committing to UT.

Oh well. We have Tyler Moore, so we're good.
