OU to B1G? Media Friend Says There Are Talks

There is no doubt if the B1G chooses to expand that it will look East. Especially at UConn. Hartford is the 30th largest TV market in the country. That's bigger than K.C., I believe.
And nobody in Hartford watches UCONN football. Nebraska probably has about the same number of football fans in Hartford as UCONN does.
UCONN may not have a large football following, but basketball is huge there. They have more BB fans than Maryland and Rutgers football fans combined.

Not that he let you know if this wasn't the case but....
Yeah, I don't see anything really happening until the Big XII GOR expires (2022) or the Big XII tries to extend the GOR. So Delaney could be telling the truth...

If this was going to happen, we would have seen some more smoke by now. Not ruling it out, but as of right now I would say this rumor is flatlining.

It's not about who watches the games. It's about the number of cable subscribers that will get BTN added to their cable packages.

It's not even that anymore, with cord-cutting becoming prevelant.

It is still about that. If it wasn't, TV deals would be getting smaller.

OU fans not happy with the leagues decision to deny Baker Mayfield another year of eligibility.

they reversed the decision
This reversal in itself should not be any surprise as the Big 12 is simply chaotic in their business dealings. I am not sure what Oklahoma is thinking but the boosters and donors have to be scratching their heads wondering how much longer the league can last with the inmates running the asylum.

It can't survive if the status quo doesn't change. The revenue sharing structure needs restructured, they need to expand to survive.

Most of the respondents in the comment section say they want to go to SEC
Want in one hand...

Be careful what you wish for OU fans, you thought playing 2nd fiddle to Texass was fun just wait until you meet Alabama, LSU and Auburn.

OU's leadership knows that such a move is, at best, short-sighted and detrimental to the University in the long run. Fans have always wanted SEC, but remember it's also about the academics. The latter is a great way to stand out in the area and keep siphoning kids from North Texas to boot.

And this won't blow over anytime soon. OU has zero interest in anything Big XII related until Bevo TV goes away or is re-purposed.

When it comes to expansion & conference realignment, Tom Shatel of the Omaha World Herald concludes that at the end of the 2016 Big Ten Media days...

The Big Ten might not be done yet

...and it potentially has Oklahoma, Texas, along with Kansas and maybe Missouri in it's crosshairs.

"...the only league left to poach would appear to be the Big 12, which also has a grant of rights but only for several more years. However, where there's a lawyer, there's always a way. And if Oklahoma or Texas chose to bolt the Big 12, certainly the destination conference would help pick up the tab."
"The feeling at media days is that Delany may not be done yet, though the Boss said Tuesday he may not be here for the end of the six-year TV deal. Never say never with Delany."
