Nothing wrong with assistant coaches wanting to expand the head coaches that they have experience with. It's all about building a network of people that you have worked with.what is most interesting to me at this point, is anyone from Bo's staff going to go with him to Yougstown? Maybe its the lower salaries but nobody seems to be chomping at the bit to follow him this time.
I'd beat down multiple doors for 200k a year. At the end of the day he landed a D1, power 5 job...that is way better job than the majority of coaching jobs out there. You can bet there were plenty of candidates for that job.I can't imagine too many people were beating down the door to coach at a school that's going to get some pretty stiff sanctions. That said, it's a good spot for him. It's the level of coaching he should have been doing while at NU.
Good story, thanks for sharing. Two years ago, we made the trip from TN to Lincoln for a game. We arrived Friday evening and walked around the stadium getting pictures with the statues, etc. Then, we saw JP walking across the street. He was talking on the phone; so I told my 2 daughters to turn around and smile, and I would take a pic as he walked behind them. JP saw what I was doing, put the person on the phone on hold, came over and posed for a picture, told us GBR, and then continued walking. Definitely struck me as a decent man.
I wish him well. He is a young coach and could really grow under a different leader.
