Patrick Witt

Apparently he has NFL scouts looking at him, so he has a possible paycheck there. And couldn't he just apply again anyway if that doesn't work out?
I have to admit, I was shocked to read this. Someone posted a link earlier showing he was currently rated the 10th-best QB in this year's draft. Really surprised by that. I figured he was decent, but nothing to get really excited about.

I was too, especially after that thing about him being in trouble or not showing up for practice awhile back. Can't remember exactly what it was but it painted him in a bad light.

I thought he left Nebraska because football was too much of a focus here and not enough focus and rigor on academics. Now he pulls out of the Rhodes scholar for a football game?

He left Nebraska because it was in his best interests , and I'm sure he thinks passing on the Rhodes scholly is his best move too. The first decision worked out well for him, who are we to say that this one won't too?

Lets see

Playing in the NFL for 7 years as a backups backup (Check)

Collecting 350K a year to do that (Check)

Using your Yale connection and degree to get a 6 figure job after that or right out of college (Check)

Yeah, I think the guy made the right choice.

Good for him man!

But did the Rhodes review board make the right choice? I get that he can apply next year, but I think they would want to work with the guy.

I guess I dont know but they also have some other really really really good applicants!

They are British. They have a very stiff, inflexible rod stuck up their hind ends.

I don't think it was ever said that the Rhodes board made a choice not to work with him on this.

Maybe he pulled out for other reasons.

They didn't. I can't remember where it was said but they only offered interviews on a Saturday this year and the previous year they had been on a Friday. Interviews are by region and he applied in Georgia so it would have been in Atlanta. From what it sounds like all the candidates are there at once and they interview everyone and call them back as necessary until they choose one.

That's what I've been thinking the whole time. I'm not sure how long the interview is, but it's kinda crazy that they can't work with him on this. Did they do anything for the Florida State player a few years ago? I know he showed up to the game late that night.
Myron Rolle was the Nole. And no they didn't alter anything for him. It happened that FSU played a night game and the NCAA gave permission for a booster with a private plane tofly him back after the interview so he could play. He arrived at halftime and played the last half.

And Myron Rolle is 1million times the football player Witt is.
